We need people to educate themselves. Community understanding is key!

Then why not educate the community about SegWit?

Oh - that is too hard - it easier to say "do 2MB rather than 1MB" - so much for your "education speal". Cheesy

(people like you are the antithesis of wanting to educate people - you have no intention to do that at all - you just want to brainwash those that are stupid into following what will kill the very point of Bitcoin)

...problem is to keep raising the block size ad infinitium. ...

You do realize that the blockchain is growing ad infinitum already, without removing the blocksize limit, right?

This proposal does not remove limits, all this proposal does is increase the maximum allowable capacity to 2MB.

We need people to educate themselves. Community understanding is key!

Of course. Simply pointing out the flaw in "unsustainable because will keep growing forever" reasoning.

How will 2MB blocks kill Bitcoin?

Blockstream's SegWit is an experimental unproven workaround to a hard fork. Even so, BIP102 does not prevent a future implementation of SegWit.

What BIP102 does is prevent a fracturing of the community while also increasing on-chain throughput. I predict the proposal will pass overwhelmingly.

You have obviously not bothered to research a thing.

So your idea is that we should just change things due to politics not science.

I am sorry - but "I reject your reality and insert my own".

Cheesy

So you can't explain your assertion that 2MB blocks will kill bitcoin? That's what I thought! Cheesy

But you can explain exactly why we need 2MB blocks before April?

So please do!

(it seems you are just competing for being a bigger "idiot" than others)

Okay. I guess Gavin is an idiot, the Chinese miners are all idiots, Brian Armstrong's an idiot, and anyone that doesn't agree with Blockstream is an idiot! lol

So the answer to everything is actually "who is an idiot" rather than anything scientific?

That just shows what an *idiot* you actually are! Cheesy

Yes, that's true.  Gavin is an idiot, and so is Brian Strongarm, along with any miner (of any nationality) who supports their idiotic contentious hard fork.

---Exhibit A---

I plan on using Bitcoins as a convenient, very-low-cost means of exchange.

I don't plan on saving a significant number of Bitcoins as a store of value.

---Exhibit B---

Nobody has done a better or more heart-felt and sincere job than @Bitfury of debunking the 'magical Visa with free tx 4eva, not a store-of-value' nonsense:

Quote
https://medium.com/@BitFuryGroup/keep-calm-and-bitcoin-on-4f29d581276

I grew up in Soviet Latvia and witnessed firsthand the elimination of my parent’s life savings. All of their dreams were gone when the Soviet Union and the banking systems collapsed in 1991. Then, like a nightmare, my own investment dreams were shattered in the global financial crisis of 2008. I knew as a child, and I know even more now as an adult that we, as a global technology community, can and must do better.

FACT 1: Bitcoin Is Not an Electronic Payments System Like PayPal

Many Bitcoin newcomers view the network as yet another electronic system for instant payments, like PayPal or Visa. Right here we have a very substantial difference in opinion. Bitcoin was never designed to confirm instant payments and believing that is its function is a mistake.

As Nick Szabo, the renowned author of smart contracts wrote:

“Visa and PayPal already exist, and within national borders they do what they do quite well. It’s silly to try to turn Bitcoin into yet another Visa and PayPal.”

Bitcoin is not an instant payment network and not a fancy replacement for PayPal or Visa. It is first and foremost a decentralized system, which sacrifices speed in favor of security. A key feature provided by decentralization is permissionless entry for users and developers — and it is thanks to this component that Bitcoin has grown into much more than a currency and has become a platform for Blockchain innovations.

Most importantly, Bitcoin is a new world created for anyone — especially for someone like me — who didn’t grow up in a world where “trusted emissary” was a reality and the idea of “asset security” was something other people in other parts of the world enjoyed.

You'll need to include Satoshi Nakamoto into that group of idiots as well. Don't forget the 1MB block limit was only intended to be a temporary measure, never a consensus rule.

Thanks. You have definitely won the name calling battle for today! Tongue

~~

Now I'm off to go do what idiots do I guess!

I think they mean that objectively, not as a label. Good argument IMO; forking with 75% consensus has been analysed to come with high risk (apparently the maximum possible) of the attacking chain getting orphaned.

That would be the epitome of stupid, in the objective sense. Would it not?

We need people to educate themselves. Community understanding is key!

So you say this (implying that you are somehow better educated than most everyone else) and when you are criticised about it you have a go at the poster?

You are an arrogant asshole to say the least.

lol. It's funny the way you look at the world. Thanks for the insights. Hope you are enjoying your blockstream paychecks.

Then why haven't they paid me one cent yet?

I'd expect some payment so far - wouldn't you?

So let's solve this problem - I would ask the Blockstream guys to say if I'm paid by them.

(and now I have caught you out - as you know they are not paying me one cent and you can never prove otherwise)

Thank you for all your amazing insights It's really appreciated!

What on earth does your quote about @gavin have to do with me?

(are you that stupid or just competing to be the most stupid person I've had to waste my time here with?)

Very funny - but as CIYAM is not a VC backed entity (nor makes any profits at all) I'm not quite sure that the humour would make sense to anyone at all.

If I am missing out on some profit that you guys think that I am making then I'd like to know where to get that from (my wife would be the first to want to see these profits). Cheesy
