Can't seem to find a thread on this so here I go:

Today the blockchain is four years old: https://blockexplorer.com/block/000000000019d6689c085ae165831e934ff763ae46a2a6c172b3f1b60a8ce26f

Coins mined: 10,751,200
Number of transactions: 10,679,712
Number of BTC transferred: 1,252,442,844
Number of errors in chain: 0
Addresses seen: 8,778,013

Where is the party? Where is the press release from the bitcoin foundation?

who can tell the number of transactions bitcoin handled? blockchain.info currently seems to be a little out of sync.

Also does this hold:

Number of errors in chain: 0

(I know of at least one fix that had to be done via a client upgrade)

Yep, out of 3.5M total minted in those 70,000 blocks.

Yep, out of 3.5M total minted in those 70,000 blocks.

How reasonable do you think is it to assume that those are all lost? I mean if all the other 2M moved from those early blocks, why wouldn't the rest? Who likely owns them? Satoshi?

Is that the American indian who is crying because the land of his ancestors has become polluted (TV commercial from the 70s)?  Perhaps Satoshi is crying because his blockchain has become polluted with Satoshi Dice transactions.

Where is the party?

We did celebrate in Berlin.

Offered four Pampero shots for the price of one, quadriple cheeseburgers and deep fried 'Blockschokolade' (German word for cooking chocolate which comes in little blocks).

Lots of glass raising and toasting 'to blockchain eternity and beyond' Smiley.

We should use this kind of event much more and connect and celebrate globally, toast to each other via skype, buy each other drinks from continent to continent and so on.

What could be the next event to celebrate in the Bitoin community?

Joe
