I thought ETH would of burst by now starting to scare me

That will reduce the supply of Eth. Correct with the success of the DAO and now reduced supply of ETH we can expect some meaty price gains in ETH. |

After the first DAO, there will be other DAO or other new applications to use the Ethereum. So the price could be maintained. |

All the major altcoins's price are dropping at the moment. That is mainly due to the rise of the bitcoin price.
