Watchdog_Expired Temp Trick

If your masternode is in watchdog_expired there is a temporary trick that will bring it back up.
Sentinel is supposed to do this automatically, but I have been seeing 2 watchdogs which I think is confusing Sentinel.
Everyone still needs to install Sentinel and if we can get 2/3 of the masternodes voting valid no then Sentinel will be able to delete these watchdog objects automatically.
If you don’t have Sentinel you won’t get valid rewards.
Here is the temp trick.
Go into your console (on your local wallet).
And type: gobject list all watchdogs
You will get something that looks like this:
{
  "db37a1c5d70f5cf7f50d4a143ca5b2779c9910be3fa2c2eaec9f86655aceb955": {

}
If you have only one showing then pick the “Hash” from that one.
If you have two showing like in this example it usually is the bottom one that you can vote on.  Pick the “Hash” from that one.
In the console put: gobject vote-many HASH valid no
So in this example it would look like this:
gobject vote-many ed4d22609ba3e54d7df2da8c7992d59affdd2bb5eb1d1305b7d62f114dc615f1 valid no
If should then show if it is successful or not.  If it is a success then update your masternode status tab in the GUI and see if it needs a new start or is enabled again.
If you do this within an hour of it going to watchdog expired then it will come back enabled.
This won’t stop it from happening again, but at least you can get rewards while we work on this problem.
Remember if you haven’t installed Sentinel, and gotten on the good blockchain you won’t get valid rewards.
Thanks!

How do we setup sentinel in a windows environment?

I don't know, actually.  Are you running terracoind in the command prompt?  Or through Windows BASH?

From my days playing Mount & Blade I know there is python for Windows: https://www.python.org/downloads/windows/

But I am not sure about the requirements.txt.

Let me look into it a bit.

Thanks!

I see this coin has really good masternode return,  and I want to setup one. This coin is old coin, the devs just implement the masternode recently?
I don't know this coin before but anyway it has good masternode profit. That's one of the most valuable reason for buying this coins.

That ROI is incorrect, our current network issues are showing inflated returns
actually expected ROI would be around 30%

Curious how the same transaction ID can have multiple enabled masternodes.

I created a windows version script (watchdog.bat) to vote down the watchdogs: https://slack-files.com/T0W1W8KTK-F89LNG53M-69e44835ff
You can try, it's plain text, copy to a text file and name as like watchdog.bat.
Then you can configure a scheduled task (use windows Task Scheduler) to run it (run it at the same directory as terracoin-cli) every hour or so.

I cloned the latest source from github/terracoin, compiled, and ran terracoin-qt version  v0.12.1.5-c4844c5b1 (64-bit).  I also ran sentinel which reported ":575:error ==== 3 failed, 20 passed".  "masternode status"  shows successful started,   Masternodes tab shows ENABLED for 7h.

2 rewards came in, one still confirming, but the one with 163 confirmations doesn't show up in block explorer.  I did have the WATCHDOG error show up twice, and I did the gobject voting to invalidate it, which also reported success.  However, I'm wondering if I'm on the right chain?  Is this expected behaviour?

we are reindexing the node behind the subdomains data now, to get the explorer over on the longest chain.

First day back at my day job from my "vacation" and so I am a little behind on messages.

We made some good progress on the issue today (I promise I wasn't working on it from my day job.  Really.) and I think we are narrowing everything down.  We are testing the cause/cure on the testnet as I type.

I posted about a trick to get rewards with voting on the bad watchdogs, so you can always do that while we work on this.  Usually if you can get them up and running for even 2 hours you get a nice round of rewards.

Once the network has been stable for 24 hours I will email all of the exchanges and ask them to reindex and to take TRC out of maintenance.

Both Zpool (http://www.zpool.ca/explorer/1488) and Multipool.us (https://www.multipool.us/dashboard/pool/trc) are on the correct chain so if you want to mine then mine on those pools.  Mining-Dutch and Ispace are on the wrong chains so anything mined there will be lost.

Our explorer is once again on the correct chain: https://explorer.terracoin.io/

Even if you are on the correct chain I would not send TRC right now.  I would wait till everything is running smoothly for 24 hours then send.

Once the network is fixed the masternode ROI will return to around 30%, so if you are using masternode ranking sites be prepared for that.

Thanks for your patience and welcome to all of the new community members.

Thanks for the quick reply!  I have python run-times installed but get a database error when I run sentinel.py.  It seems to want an sqlite instance to be present.  If it worked with MySQL I would be set.

Thanks!  Sadly, since we are having network issues masternode ranking sites have an inflated ROI for Terracoin.  Once all of the current masternodes return to action the ROI will be around 30%.  We have other things besides ROI going for us though.  We have decentralized governance which allows anyone with a masternode to put in proposals for governance funds to fund their projects, and we have a dedication to helping out the world.  Check out our whitepaper.

I think this just shows which transaction they are all in.  So they could have just sent 5000 TRC in many chunks really quickly.

signing node of the last watchdog --> "SigningMasternode": "ceef4a4bb30aca6a719579385f2f59b9c8cf396f448e7f5678251f68fec47194-15"

coincidence?

I think so.  It looks like the first time you run Sentinel it will put in a watchdog, and then as time passes other Sentinels will get a chance.

Curious how the same transaction ID can have multiple enabled masternodes.

Hanzac always has the data!  So there is a link to the explorer of this person just getting a bunch of 5000 TRC chunks in 1 transaction.

Thank you!  While we work on the issue this will help keep your masternodes getting rewards.

The test data is not all updated, so yes, 3 failed, 20 passed is the correct response from the test of Sentinel.

It sounds like you may be on the wrong chain if your rewards aren't confirming.  Check your block against our explorer (https://explorer.terracoin.io) and both Zpool & multipool to see if you are on the right chain.

If you aren't on the right chain then clearbanned and reindex.

Thanks to Thundercock for answering questions while I was away, and at work!

Hello everyone, I hate to be that new guy. But I just thought I should make an account, to thank everyone for the ongoing support and also see if I can double check my configuration. I put up a masternode about a week ago on the 29th using u3mur4's script. At the time I noticed a lot of masternodes in error states, but I guess I didn't think very much of it as it was late and the one line script had worked it's magic.

Over the next few days, I noticed the active nodes drop. Puzzled I looked up what had happened. I was worried when I heard sentinel was the cause for the break in the network as a separate user account on my vps required to run it for a different masternode coin. Even though this had all occurred seemingly a few days after the stormchain I thought I should come clean about it anyway in case it can help any of the developers. I assumed that separate user accounts would help to prevent any conflicts but please let me know if necessary and I will move the node to a dedicated vps.

I removed the script and immediately pulled the github for the current version and configured sentinel,
since then I voted and re-indexed my wallet which removed the pseudo payments and got the core wallet back on the right chain.
Iv'e just restarted and re-indexed daemon on the vps so hopefully that will sync eventually too.

Should we be allowing any additional ports for sentinel?

Also, currently I have sentinel installed as:

(Coin 1) /home/user1/sentinel
(Coin 2) /home/user2/sentinel

Please let me know if this is a problem as I currently have at least one instance of sentinel on most of my vps's configured with a few different coins, in this fashion.
When I run separate tests they both give me the expected outputs.

I hope that I can do my part in keeping the network secure in the future, this seems like a great project and i'm really glad to see such an active community through this development.

Sorry to take up a post.
