I believe bitcoin usage will possibly increase by the coming years. This increase is felt to the maximum of 30-40% of the entire population.

10-20 percent is good estimate when it comes to bitcoin, people from bitcointalk are not the only ones using crypto some just don`t bother to register and create a new account.

I went with 2-5 on the vote. I hope it's 10-20 though! Keep the price going up Need more markets to accept bitcoin as payment for that big of a push. Also, government needs to stop making it so hard for businesses to use it. Just my 2 cents..

10-20 percent is optimistic estimation, I think it will be around 1-2% by considering current people who own bitcoin now.

5 years is a lot of time in the way technology and modern society develops. Only 10 years ago smartphones weren't that widespread, few people had decent ones. Speaking in live cam with people over phone, browsing internet and so on, has happened so quick, so in 5 years society can get used to Bitcoin and it can become a worldwide phenomenon. This is the final result no matter what, so if it doesn't happen in 4-5 years, it will happen in 10. Eventually it will happen because it's unavoidable.

We don't even know if bitcoin will still be alive in 2020. But if bitcoin is to be still alive at that time it would be highly probable that more than 50% of people will own bitcoin

It's hard to guesstimate, seeing as we don't even know how many are using it.
So all these posts are just guesses, without the required information.

True. It is hard to get proof on how many are really using or just bluffing to make themselves feel in the other societies. If a survey will be conducted I think also that it will be at low percentage. But who will fund this survey? That is the question there.

it is really hard to say. by then there might only be an slight increase or it might even be widespread and be used by all the people. but i am more leaning toward ~20% of the world population.

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip. Whales are those who keep buying the dip.

Im curious about whats the current % of people on earth who own bitcoins, but from my point of view, anything between 1% - 10% is really optimistic, ofc that i hope this will increased a lot, but i doubt that this will grow much more than 10% at 2020, even 5% will be optimistic.

Without something big happening at bitcoin, being promoted or used for the big companies i believe it wont cross the 10-20 % mark if the big companies joins bitcoin i believe it will jump to 30% as the people need to know and understand bitcoin before be part of it.

Yeah right I doubt 4 years can grow very quickly users it seemed impossible. we don't know how many bitcoin users today. according to many users is about 2-3 million people it was quite small with an estimated world population of more than 3 billion people. it means that the user bitcoin is currently only around 0.001% is very small

Well from what it seems, 2-5% seems a pretty good hunch. Not much people own bitcoin right now, by 2020 atleast some more people should get attracted towards BTC but not like billions of people will buy them in just 4 years. It will be gradual and we never know if the value drops and the interest is lost.

I think 1% of the people will own some bitcoin. 1% is about 70 million people. It is a lot compared to now.

I can say that less than 2 % because I can see that my goverment is forbidding bitcoin as valid currency. They said for various reason , for example : anonymous, untraceable , and other negative impact. And yes it still need more time for bitcoin to be a real global currency !

Now till 2020 is 4 years. That's ,can be said, a long time for the development and adoption of bitcoin. My speculation is that around 40-50% is about middle age to elder stage so we should exclude them and some part in the world are not fully accessed to the internet. Therefore I have voted for 20-30% but may be higher a bit. I as well as others can't give the right answer but the adoption rate in the future should be better than at the moment I believe

I actually voted for 30 to 40 % percentage of possible people who will be owners of bitcoin by 2020. I can merely say this due to my place most of the people begin to discover things which is really fast from the word of mouth people can think a lot but most especially if they know that there is money present to earn they will go for it..

Voted for 20% cause i don't belive that bitcoin become so popular soon. It will happen only if value will reach 600$+. People will be instantly interested.
