It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

Depends what you need and how quickly you need it.  If it is something smallish or not urgent I can probably take it on, but I'm in grad school and teaching, so I could only spend about 5 hours a week on it.

A month ago I would have had the winter break to tackle it, but it's only the 3rd day of the semester now so I'm probably booked until summer.  There are lots of other developers around here, but we don't always check the services section.  Just look at people signatures on other topics and PM them if they mention programming or Ruby.

You might want to give a little more details about your project, some people might already have built similar stuff, or building blocks might already be available.
Why do you require it to be done in Ruby ?

I did some small stuff in Ruby a while ago, but moved on to CakePHP due to easier installation on my server. Cake is very similar to Rails (down to the function names) and PHP runs on more servers? Could Cake be an option for you?

Hi,

I'm a moderately experienced ruby developer, and I've been meaning to get with rails (haven't used it before but I understand how it works and could likely get up to scratch in a couple of days).

PM me some details and a target budget and I'll tell you if it sounds like something I could handle.
