hi. i bought intel quad core q6700 today and i want to know that whether it will fit in my old heat sink and fan of dual core prcessor xeon e3110 or do i have to buy a new heat sink fan for quad core.i have stock fan now.

is it in the same motherboard? if the processor is PHYSICALLY a different size, then you should be more concerned for the mobo then the heatsink that straps to the mobo

Yep, same motherboard (or most likely just the same socket) will have the same heatsink mounts.  If the socket type is different it may or may not fit.
