the trade volume on bter is not good enough to get my attention and i also prefer some exchanger that has not been hacked before.
The thing that occurs to me though is that with most exchanges that get hacked the people running things just shut down the exchange and disappear.
We know though, from actual history, that the folks running BTER will not do that. They were hacked and their company was briefly crippled and they decided to pay off the victims from their own future profits, rather than cutting and running.
What weight does that carry?
