You can reduce the noise, but not really sound proof it. If you're in a cool environment, you can set the fan speed to 30%-40%. And if the noise is uneven, something might be wrong with the fan.

If you want it to be silent, you're going to have it hosted somewhere else.

However you could further reduce the noise by putting it in a acoustic panel box or isolated vinyl tube.

You are correct to make it sound proof I don't see being possible as air needs to move through miner.  There are mods on this forum (be careful as some might void warranty such as changing fans).

But S7 is not a quiet miner.   I personally would go more for the A6 if noise is a issue.   Your just wanting quiet from a miner that was not designed to be quiet.  So that is where modding comes in.

Go to lowes or Home Depot.

Look for 10 inch flexible duct

Cost is 40 bucks. About 25 feet long

Put the entire miner inside the duct about one foot steer the other end into the space that needs to heat.

Lower fans to 50 %

Decide if this helped sound enough.

Don't change fans there are no really quiet ones that will cool the gear

the duct work does not void warranty and will last for years.

This gear will never be a quiet miner.

I went the route of clocking mine to 4000gh and lowered fans to 40%

And it is in a spot that is not used much

So it can be medium loud

All the above advises are correct. You could also buy a big box in which the S7 fits but not too tight so make sure it's at least double it's size then buy some soundproofing foam wedges and glue it inside the box and also outside (like a double layer) make sure there aren't any voids. Make two cuts that will be enough for air flow (intake and outtake). Make sure the cuts are big enough to have a good airflow with large tubes connected to both of them in which both connects to outside air through window (if you want to go cheap) and normally it should make the air flow naturally and at the same time maintain enough temperature as needed. Changing fans would be the easiest solution but that voids it's warranty.
