Yeah, pretty bad news alright. I signed up to the site due to the offer, but have since created an wallet account and even started mining. Well now I see that since I am a new member and haven't had much time to even find out about Litecoin, or even Bitcoins for that matter, to even know what to ask, I am somehow inferred to be a scammer?

I sense scamming alright, and by the looks of all the posts on how to view ads for litecoins, etc I am starting to think this whole alternative currency is pretty much just that.

Time to uninstall probably what amounts to Trojan-ware mining software and hope my bank accounts don't get emptied due to my foolishness.

The exploiting of free stuff isnt a new thing. Bitcoin's faucet a few years back had the same issues.

I'm sorry to hear this giveaway is closing up shop.

Big thanks to 420 and Franky1 for this thread.  Looks to have been a success IMO.  Hopefully someday in the future I'll be in the position to do the same for the community.   Wink

i was doing it all manually. i might develop a bot to check on users and spot signs of clones and double begging. and then i wont have to get personally involved and not let emotion over rule my usual giving nature.

but time will tell.

I wish to put out thanks to member 420 for making good on the offer. I do apologize for maybe coming across as a bit rude, but I still stand behind my feelings that it is not a very welcoming environment where every "newbie" is treated with such hostility and distrust.

While I am sure much of what you say is true about people signing up to exploit or "scam" the situation and you have your reasons for doing so, when you case such a wide net you are inevitably turning legitimate new users away, as well as filtering out the bad.

With that said, I too will grow a bit more skin and try to start fresh. I am continuing to read up on Bit coins as well as Lite coins, and any of the other alternative currencies since stumbling upon this the other day. I am literally new to the whole thing and didn't even know a bit coin existed until I read about in on another blog a while back.

From what I read so far, are Bit coins and Lite coins the only two currencies worth looking at right now? I base this solely from the information I see from the Vircurex site this threat recommended signing  up at. Am I also correct in interpreting that the Bit coin value is roughly $45 US and Lite coin only $0.01 US? If so, is Lite coin even viable. I see everything else is even less, so won't bother concerning myself with any of them.

litecoin is $0.4x right now. If bitcoin is gold, litecoin is silver.

i mean no disrespect to any genuine people joining the community, but im not going to shout out how its easy to spot clones as then they would use the info to disadvantage giveaway's main purpose.

all i would say is there are many ways, but if i spotted them, then some people were just being too obvious.

to all those genuine community members i do hope your litecoins help you learn about litecoin, allow you to experiment with making transactions/trading. and help your future profits grow.

enjoy

Speaking as someone who has just spent the last 18 hours or so chasing this little coin around BTC-E, I'd say mission accomplished.  I've learned a hell of a lot, lost most of the coin's value, made it back up again, and now i'm slightly ahead, and have made enough mistakes to learn from, without risking large amounts.

I now feel a lot more comfortable having a go at trading with something a bit more substantial.  Cheers mate.  Cool
