Update : so far it's been good, however i am getting lots of fake orders from Malaysia. He keeps using the same iPhone device and ip address with different usernames.

Surely a better way to do this (which would also circumvent apples rules) is to make a smartphone compatible website selling BTC?

The price wouldn't have to include the 30% apple cut which would allow a lower cost to the consumer.

What we need on the iPhone as an actual native app is a simple wallet...

I suggest blasting Apple with reports, especially if you've downloaded the app, bought brownie coins, as presumably a complaint disputing a purchase gets attended to quicker than a complaint about an undesirable app in the App Store.  If he can't be reasoned with to save his own wallet from the eventual tide of chargebacks, no amount of reasoning is going to get him to consider the interests of the Bitcoin community/project as a whole.  Either that, or he is operating a scam himself.

Aside from reporting this to the app store, another plausible idea is baiting scammers and attracting them to this so both he and Apple will be overwhelmed with scams.  Better it happen in the form of a rush than a slow trickle, the quicker it will be dealt with, and the more bitcoins this overconfident fool will lose as well.  He could apparently use a costly lesson.  Given that he has other paid apps in the app store, it would be sweet justice to see Apple recoup their losses by offsetting it against his revenue for those apps... assuming they don't just pull them after a more thorough review they'll be certain to undertake.
