Just another way to try and discredit bitcoin and create fud. Better sell before we break out of this triangle and the eth insider traders take all your bitcoins....although if you're holding eth at this point thinking it will replace bitcoin, you deserve to lose them anyway.

I believe this mentality is indicative of why BTC is not doing so well anymore. If you dismiss everything non-BTC, well then it's going to be hard learning from those projects. And those projects might also have talented teams, and often solve fundamental problems that BTC is still struggling with. If this mentality does not change BTC will be a dinosaur one day, simply out-evolved by others.

Where can I use my Ether? Oh right, nowhere.

Just another way to try and discredit bitcoin and create fud.
It would make sense if you consider the two things:
1) Coordinated contentious HF's and media attacks (Hearn).
2) ETH bots before the pump on Reddit.
3) ETH bots on the Forum now (quite annoying).

You mean one of the main hubs for attacking bitcoin and pumping eth? Reddit crypto communities are a cesspit of buttcoin eth pumping sockpuppets spending their days and nights manipulating votes from their basement.

Any evidence? The way is see it Ethereum could be doing well but I fail to see how exactly it could displace Bitcoin for a long term period.

We all know Ether is pump but why should we worry about Bitcoin itself? It has huge momentum and Bitcoin is big.

Asking the wrong questions give you wrong answers.

What you have to ask is, is it possible to implement ETH where BTC is currently being accepted?

Lauda i am pretty surprised at you saying this, i had thought that you where one pretty sensible guy Huh but seriously are you telling me that just because you cant use ether (which is pretty petty to be honest, i live in Ireland, within about 400 miles i can by a coffee in bitcoin in one shop)  then it is some sort of pump and dump ?

Kodak probably thought the same thing off Nokia until they woke up one morning and had lost..... Smiley  the thing is i want both ether and bitcoin to win, and this attack every other crypto aint going to work....... Angry

Curious fact: Speculation is use.
Or did you mean use like ransomware & overpriced drugs on notoriously unreliable markets, Bitcoin's 2 main non-speculative use scenarios?

Yeah, though it was also hard to find places where I could use bitcoin when I first got into bitcoin.

I got into bitcoin because to me it solved a major problem - credit cards weren't designed for a connected world and their use was dependent upon me trusting the vendor takes the necessary precautions to secure my information from theft.

The innovation in bitcoin took away the need for that trust.

Maybe there will be an alt coin that has an innovation that solves a problem for me, and then I will likely buy into it even if I can't spend it.

Some people may feel Eth does that. I personally don't, a turing complete scripting language in the blockchain is worthless to me - it doesn't solve any problems. But some people may believe it does.

I hereby reserve the right to sometimes be wrong

Incoming:"Microsoft controls Ethereum".

What you have to ask is, is it possible to implement ETH where BTC is currently being accepted?
I don't care, nor do I want that to happen.

Here you go:
...
In comparison to Bitcoin is what I meant.

What kind of argument is this? "I'm invested in Ether and you are insensible because you dislike it"? My 3 points stand strong. Again, it is a fact that the merchant adoption is very weak in comparison to BTC (I'll assume LTC has better than Ether); it is a fact that there were bots promoting ETH on reddit and it is a fact that there are bots spamming "Bitcoin dying; ETH up" rubbish here, ergo the chances of this being coordinated are very high.
Can't you use logic?

no i means use it to buy legal items, any other thing is not what i would call usage
