i did laugh thinking that carlton really believes that adding more flags for LN and the extra bytes needed for CPC was their attempt to make transactions thinner..

he must be a comedian in real life

Here's a top tip for you Franky, get yourself a real job as a software developer. You're super confident in your ramblings, right? The open source world is missing a cryptocoin genius Roll Eyes

got a real job thanks. but maybe its time you turn some of your own opinions and questions onto yourself about your mindset and how you spend your time.

I mean like on your local TV/radio stations, billboards,... Where the ad would 'simply' explain the concept and its advantages. Could this help to make bitcoin more popular?
YES! because if we talk here there are only a part of people that could understand btc value!
I mean geek, nerd, scammers Tongue and so on....
There are a lot of people that could appreciate btc!

EDIT: Or an even better question: should we try to make bitcoin more popular?

yes we should. like talk with parents, friends, workers  and so...
The best way for a strong currency, and regrets bank system!!

no this is my free time. my job has nothing to do with being a blockstream shill or a classic shill. my job is completely separate but allows me much freedom to have a nice leisurely work/life balance.
id never do a job that forces me to spend 40-50 hours a week acting like a slave.

surprisingly bitcoin was meant to free people from corporate control and allow monetary freedom. but it seems your own shilling proves you prefer the corporate controls blockstream puts on you

anyway back to the topic of the OP

advertising on TV to 'users' wont work straight off the bat because average people have 4 main questions

1. can i pay my rent/mortgage with it. (does my landlord accept bitcoin)
2. can i buy toilet roll, eggs, bacon and baked beans with it at the local store.
3. if not for real world stuff, can i use it to pay for amazon prime/netflix subscriptions seeing as its advertised as internet money
4. does my employer have the ability to pay me a wage in bitcoin
5. can i buy some using cash from anywhere thats trusted. like a pawn broker, credit union or atm

in most cases all 4 questions are no. and only a few small areas around the world would question 2 and 5  be a yes. so until people really push retailer acceptance its not really worth wasting millions on user based TV adverts because there is still limited usage in the retail market.

at the moment bitcoin needs to push the retail market to make it usable. even the remittance market is not primed for bitcoin because of the barrier of entry. which some numpties think there isnt one. but compared to changing a $20 into 2x $10 bills..
bitcoin is not that simple. you have to find strangers online by going to localbitcoins.com or you need to register your life story to use coinbase or circle.
and so would the person at the other end of the transaction to convert back to their native currency

bitcoin still has a long way to go and will not be 900million users in the next couple years like most blockerstreamers spout out about as being the doomsday thing to worry about

yes of course it would. If everyone could advertise Bitcoin locally it would be a very good thing and would help a lot for bitcoin become even more popular.

yes of course it would. If everyone could advertise Bitcoin locally it would be a very good thing and would help a lot for bitcoin become even more popular.

if everyone spoke to their local shops and demonstrated how easy it was to accept bitcoin. things would move faster.
but a TV promotion aim at making it more popular to USERS. would be a waste because within 30 seconds of seeing the advert most people wont see a use for it.

but like i said if there was maybe 5 people in a town and they helped get it usable in local shops. then the rest of the population of the town would later think it is usable in a later TV advert.. but not until bitcoins usefulness is set first

It is good idea, but what ever the idea we give the main point is , is it the bitcoin legit in your region, because most of the countrys are still taking bitcoin as illegal , so how can you advertise about bitcoin. Their are so many ways to promote Bitcoin but the main is that that country law should first accept the bitcoin , then automatically you can see how many users you will come asking about bitcoin.

One more think can be done is Online Shopping if they start to accept Bitcoin as their payment system then you can see the bticoin growing very soon year by year.

Well it is definetely not forbidden in all countries. So if someone should start in these countries, bitcoin will get more and more attention, and people will be less scared of it than they should be...

advertising will certainly help to increase the penetration of bitcoin in to general mass. but they should have proper resources available in the internet where they can learn abut the blockchain technology and mining guides. Otherwise the advertising will go in vain.

Also the advertiser should be benefited from the people using bitcoin, otherwise, no one will come forward for charity.

if you have a local business where you accept bitcoin as mode of payment it somehow could spark interest local bitcoin users and at the same time get to spread the word about bitcoin. The pizza story is known to us i assume you also knew it.  your business may be a place where bitcoin users gather if the word spreads.

I would much rather see more people currently using Bitcoin, actively approaching merchants to ask them to accept Bitcoin. If we could start a competition, to reward the person who did the most leg work to get merchants to accept Bitcoin, we might get somewhere. These people do not even need to know about each other. If 5 people walk into a shop daily and ask if they accept Bitcoin, they will start investigating this technology and they will soon start accepting it. Adoption will come, when merchants support it. ^smile^

No doubt it will popularize bitcoin among masses but the question is who is going to pay for bitcoin advertising.Bitcoin is not owned by any one person and advertising in electronic media is very expensive I dont think anyone would do it

Yes we need to move it to the next level where many people would want to have this also. Let them know that they can gain profit in just waiting.  Grin Let them see what future is given by this currency. If that happens a lot of buyer will come and our price will grow up.

Who is going to fund it then?

The main issue is that the concept and its advantages is rather unbelievable to most and they would rather stick to their usual fiat and credit cards. It has hard to explain everything with the target audience's attention using a billboard or advertisements in general. Bitcoin does needs more exposure but some would view it as a ponzi scheme since it is a new concept to them. What we need is more promotions by making documentaries, people mentioning it to their friends repeatedly and explain it to them in detail.

Well, we did a local advertisement in the newspaper when we started with our weekly Bitcoin meetup, and we have drawn in strangers of all walks of life. Some of those have become regulars and I

regard them as friends now. We meet every Saturday at a local pub to watch some sport and have a few beers and then we have a few informal discussions and the like... We also buy and sell between

ourselves and introduce new people to the group. This is one way of doing this....  Roll Eyes
