Does Litecoin have a future?

Correct me if I am wrong, but I haven't seen any promising development going on for Litecoin. Does it mean that it will die soon? I don't want to FUD, but I just want to make sure if LTC could be a good investment for long term, since I have been doubting myself of it.

So, will Litecoin have a future?

it is from nearly a year ago and as we can see litecoin is still alive and kicking, and also in the development front it has been growing a lot. we have seen SegWit be released for litecoin and we are now waiting for the miners to accept it.

i say if any altcoin is to stay alive in the future, that altcoin is Litecoin.

It has stability and thats important in the long run, its a safe heaven just like bitcoin, so its a store of value, not in the same league as btc but right after as we can see by its market cap. Keeping a decent value with no news in last years makes me think that when news (and if) come its value will rise.

Litecoin is old coin and still alive until now and price stable on the market, like doge i think litecoin will be good invest in long term. If i have muvh money i'll choose litecoin for one of my long term investment.

The price of Litecoin is stable for a long time and the chances of the price going are not that bright even in the distant future and what is the use to trading with a coin that is stable as you wont be able to reap much profit from it.It is advisable to hold some coins for the future if are planning to invest in it for the long term but litecoin does not excites me for the moment.

Alternatively it just removes one reason to dismiss the coin (at the least, when people are still using that excuse several years from now it will be laughable to people who actually keep up on the news). Since the Chinese volume from zero fee exchanges was never counted on sites like http://coinmarketcap.com/ anyway, volume from exchanges that included fees seems to be about the same or slightly up.

If bitcoin grows, then i believe litecoin will follow the trend, given the btc dominance percent, i would hold a bunch.

I personally have given up on Litecoin since 2013. That doesn't mean that it has no future but if you're a constant learner like me you're busy learning about and playing around with the new stuff that cryptocurrency technology has to offer. Litecoin, in that sense, is not innovative. It does its job, but there aren't many use cases for me.

Not only has the price been stable for a long time, recently Litecoin has also been going through an ATL for a long time. All this time investors have been waiting for something to take Litecoin out of this phase of stagnation, and SegWit is likely to be the event that will allow Litecoin to find a better position in the market.

You do have a point there mate. As Litecoin is one of the first alts, that has integrated SegWit into its code, it can certainly have a great impact on its future once it signals acceptance from the majority of miners. I think that when the time comes where SegWit becomes active on Litecoin, it will be the one where it will increase in price, as well as interest from users who are not only cryptocurrency experts, but those who are new into digital payments as well.

Nevertheless, this is a sign that Litecoin, might continue to grow for years to come. Just my opinion.

I think Litecoin will always be worth holding. It always does the same: goes to the floor for a long time (which is where you slowly buy) then something happens and it pumps hard.

I have seen this behavior too with other coins like Dogecoin.

Yeah. Both Litecoin and Dogecoin seem to have that movement over the days, if you watch the charts closely. It would only be a matter of time, before you can take advantage of it and make some profit. Even still, these old altcoins have managed to remain stable on the markets after all these years. It may be a sign that they would survive for the long term, if members from the community continue to support them.

Nevertheless, it would be best to buy and hold Litecoin now, as I have the feeling that once SegWit becomes active on it, the price of the cryptocurrency will skyrocket. Just my thoughts.

I have no clue what Litecoin will do. All I know is if I have to baghold something I prefer it to be ltc.

They are always in contention, and they will always in the top 10 in coinmarketcap and many merchants are still using this coin and  the fact that Chinese investors are supporting this coin,many new coins are coming up but over the years they have kept their position on top of their rankings ..

i think litecoin still have a good future but for now, litecoin is like sleeping giant and it will wake up if the time is right and maybe the time is come after btc reach the stable position with the price. and there is another update about segwit for litecoin but i don't follow closely, i only wait the timing of litecoin to wake up. if the segwit is successful, then i am sure litecoin will be increase too with another altcoin so there will be another party in the market.

Lite coin will be trying the game changer through the fake SegWit's hype, or it will be the another fail. We will see it ASAP, but the current result still on 3.05% for SegWit supporters and does it mean good for litecoin bagholders? I don't think so.

LTC has some developers that can clone and adopt any new gimmicks they choose just as BTC could. They don't wish to simple as that. It does what it was designed to do. If it reaches a capacity that needs improving/upgrading then I am sure it will be improved upon at that time. BTC and LTC look to adoption and real world usage they don't care about gimmicks. If an alt comes along with a great improvement they are the test net for that and I'm sure if it was advantageous beyond any doubt you would see eventually btc and ltc would adopt it.

There are some alts that have features that can not be cloned easily and patched in and are far apart from what ltc and btc are trying for right now. Those are not simply test nets for btc and ltc to observe. It is up to you to find them and recognise them.

Whatever people say on here you need to watch when an exchange goes shaky and turns off BTC withdrawals.... LTC is the next wallet to go off line. Everyone runs to LTC.

I also think Litecoin was a good altcoin but now Litecoin is sleeping for too long and had weakened badly, until this time I still haven't see any significant movement from Litecoin, it will be good if this old alt coin can rise again and then become a strong alt coin, hopefully the segwit implementation will be successful
