All you have to do is apply and azure will add a coin. I could literally build a coin today and add it. How some coins are pimping this as a partnership is beyond me. This is like me applying for a mastercard and saying mastercard is partnering with me--when in reality all I needed was a decent credit score and a pulse. All you need for azure intergration is a coin and to jump through a few hoops. Anyone who is impressed by this either doesn't understand the process or is easily impressed.
Here's FluffyPony describing the process on reddit:
"[–]fluffyponyzaXMR Core Team 11 points 1 day ago
None of the above.
We contacted them, they told us what we needed to do. It basically consisted of signing a Contributor License Agreement, submitting a PR to the Azure templates Github repo, and sending them a write-up. Took us like 3 or 4 hours:)
All the altcoins saying that Microsoft is "partnering" with them are being disingenuous - you are a partner inasmuch as you have a BizSpark account and signed a CLA.
The upshot of this, however, is that developers that are already using Azure can build applications on top of the Monero blockchain, and are able to spin nodes up quickly and easily."

Yes, but Azure is only adding the coins that were build from scratch. Not the clones. Moreover, some of the coins on Azure, such as Radium, are actually pretty good.

I would like to announce a new tentative partnership between Capital One and AmericanPegasus. You read that right, Capital One has now extended official capital towards my investments and projects. I know you are all as excited as I am, and I look forward to my marketcap soaring. What's in your cold wallet?

It is definitely over-hyped. But..... since it is simple to do and at the very least lends some good exposure to any coin/project, seems like a win-win for any developer with 3 hours to spare. Hell, Cointelegraph made it front page news for the first couple of Azure selections rounds.

Fortunately I came not subject) Very valuable information as the forks can operate with this expression: "We are the Azure" All this is speculation on little understanding people. And most interestingly, it works.

I figured it was something like that when I saw Azure adding coin after coin after coin. The number of Azure alts just grew too quickly for it to be anything other than "apply, fill out the forms correctly, and you're in."
