It removes the trace of your coins from the face of blockchain.

This is how it works...

What is actualy Bitcoin mixer and how does it work?

A bitcoin mixer makes sure that coins cannot be followed through the blockchain to someone you are paying or when you are moving your coins to a new address.

Basically, you send them a bitcoin, it gets added to a large pool of bitcoins that the mixer service owns, and it in turn sends 1 bitcoin that is not related to the 1 bitcoin that you send to them forward. This means that any trail your bitcoins left before stops at the mixing service and your new coins are untracable unless the mixing service is compromised. Another thing that can happen is, if you use a large sum of coins, that the mixing service reserves are not big enough to send you a complete set of non related coins.

Check https://bitmixer.io/how.html for info how they do it.

Why do people use mixers if their coins are clean?

I'm not bothered about why if they do it to cover anything just wondered why. Bitcoin is anonymous any way so who cares if the coins have been used in darkmarkets before or whatever.

I read about bitmixer but it's pretty expensive to mix the coins there specially if you are mixing big amounts of bitcoins.
Is there any reliable free bitcoin mixer? Can't i just deposit my bitcoins to exchange and then transfer it to another exchange and then withdraw to another wallet. This way won't i recieve new bitcoins?

Are you not potentially mixing dirty bitcoins with more dirty bitcoins or do they mix clean ones in?
Would hate to clean some gambling winnings and end up with some pedophiles coin is where I am going!
Imagine a raid all because you got the wrong mix, sure I am way off on this thought.

you can do that, of course. but if you're looking for privacy that may be not a good idea because the exchange still knows where the coins came from and where they goes.

let me quote something from bitmixer:
Quote
All exchanges require the user to scan ID documents, and large transactions must be reported to the proper governmental authority. When you use Bitcoin to pay for goods and services, you will of course need to provide your name and address to the seller for delivery purposes.

This means that a third party with an interest in tracking your activities can use your visible balance and ID information as a basis from which to track your future transactions or to study previous activity. In short, you have compromised your security and privacy.

Ok i get it
Even if i proceed with bitmixer.io.
I am still risking my bitcoins with a third party and who knows if they really will be trustworthy or not.

Is there any bitcoin wallet to which i send my bitcoins and then transfer the funds to some other address and the new bitcoins that are transferred are not transferred from the original address to earlier the coins were sent. This way the bitcoins will be mixed.Such wallet exist?
Has anyone tried primedice?Suppose we deposit bitcoins in primedice and then withdraw do we recieve new coins or the same coins from the address to which the coins were deposited?

there's also the darkwallet that claims to enable full privacy. I've hear good things about it. though I've absolutely no idea how to use it.

when you withdraw from primedice the coins comes from other address.

If you want a good service, you should be prepared to pay a small price.
If there was a free mixing service, I would be worried that they could disappear with my coins. At least, Bitmixer has a sustainable business model.

...

I use bitmixer.io from time-to-time to protect my own privacy.  They do a great job separating your initial receiving address and the address they send your BTC to.

Follow instructions carefully!  Take your time the first few times you use their service...  Download the Letter of Guarantee.

If you study the various threads re mixing, you will find bitmixer.io gets the most compliments.

I am in their Signature Campaign because I am a happy customer and happy to promote a great service, but otherwise am not affiliated with them.
