Yes, we all need in gambling that we have a limitations that will follow. So that at least if we lose, its okay because we just lose the amount that we can afford to lose. The smart way of gambling is not the idea of never losing but you have to find a way to bias your money to favour the winning bets.    Same applies to speculators in a marketplace who are effecitvely gambling on finance outcomes, its very similar that you need a level head to realise opportunity can come after a loss but not throw money on a losing situation also.   You have to recognise the odds within the game to begin with I think, it can be really hard to decipher.  I think most people just follow winning streaks and when it ends you quit and go back to small bets after that so hopefully you dont just give back all the winnings

In my honest opinion, the smartest way on being a gambler is not to be so greedy on betting. I always believe that if you win some you will definitely loose some,... Your suggestion is very smart but we cannot put spirit on this one if we don't implement it while in gambling, it need a lot of discipline to be successful in a risky game like gambling.

Maybe a better idea is to fade yourself, I have been doing that in sports betting as when I see good lines I think I can win already but I lose. So I come up with a solution which is fading yourself, it's not fun but it's profitable.
