Hello,

I've recently been interested in buying physical bitcoins (just as a hobby)

I saw these 2 online:

Casascius Silver ANACS 2013 MS-64 Bit coin 0.1 BTC Loaded - 500

Casascius Silver ANACS 2013 MS-67 Bit coin 0.1 BTC Loaded - 675

My question is 2 fold. what is MS64 vs MS67 mean and what is the average price for these?

Seems steep since the 1 btc to usd price is 416.

Thank you for any guidance  Smiley

MS64/67 is the grade of the coin. Unless it is silver, gold or a serious collectible I would not buy these.

Thanks. I just read about the grading scale. Almost like diamonds hehe.

So are those prices justified? If not, what is the price you'd pay?

Both are Silver

Not justified. An ounce of silver is €13/$15 or so. You can buy physical silver from traders at about 40-45 silver ounces for the price of one of those BTC ounces. A single ounce would be about €16.

I agree with you there, but aren't the Casascius coins rare? No value for that?

No, the weight of whatever metal in the coin does not matter so much (unless it's gold) for the price - there are many other factors that determine the value of any particular coin, and that applies to all coins, bitcoin-related or not.

Yes, they are going to be rare, and that is the primary reason the coins have a higher markup, despite the grade in most cases.

Monkeynuts here knows what's up: - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1364089.0

Casascius Silver ANACS 2013 MS-64 Bit coin 0.1 BTC Loaded - 500

Casascius Silver ANACS 2013 MS-67 Bit coin 0.1 BTC Loaded - 675

^^ These two coins are a bit different- the silver tenths are fairly rare, so they have a higher markup than the 1 BTC coins. The prices are a bit high, but I would expect that if you saw them on ebay or somewhere else than here.

My ears are burning !

Good first place to start is the e book at http://www.coinfirm.org/, written by Elianite, gives you a good overview of the different Casascius coins. Well worth a read
(Elianite is also about to publish a book of all crypto coins https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1022071.0;all - free plug ! )

Casascius Silver ANACS 2013 MS-64 Bit coin 0.1 BTC Loaded - 500. So thats 1.2 ish
Casascius Silver ANACS 2013 MS-67 Bit coin 0.1 BTC Loaded - 675. This is 1.6 ish

I currently have the following 0.1 coins listed @ https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1364089.msg13876780#msg13876780
MS69 @ 1.9, MS68 @ 1.5, MS67 @ 1.4
(as well as many others)

So those prices arent a million miles away, but I can beat the 67 price !! Including delivery from the UK.

Feel free to PM me about any of the coins in my sales thread, or if you just need a steer (if you are looking at someone elses coins here), happy to help

Plenty of folks who can help you - TookDK, Blazed, bithalo, Mitchełł, Eodguy149 etc etc many others. Just look at the thread for Elianites book, and you will see most of the physical crypto collectors. They are a friendly bunch, and will help.

If I recall correctly the 0.5BTC Casascus Silver 0.5 Series 3 are 2BTC, the 1BTC Casascus Silvers are about 2.5. Those are just the silver ones. A gold BTC 1BTC Casascus Silver is like 2.75-3. These are all ungraded prices.

Just for future reference if you stay around in the bitcoin community. (If any of the prices are wrong please correct me)
