How do I import qt wallet to electrum on Linux?

Hey there
Downloaded Electrum client because my QT wallet won't sync.
Any way to import the old QT wallet to Electrum? Or do I start a new one and send all the coins to it?

Unless you have a specific need to maintain the old bitcoin addresses from your Bitcoin-Qt wallet, the easiest thing to do is just send all the coins to the new wallet, and delete the old one.

Well It will create me so work, beacuse of all the multiple backups and encryptions etc.
But you are saying there is no easy way to migrate between them, then I guess I don't really have a choice.

As Danny said the best you can do is send all coins to your newly created Electrum. If you can't because Bitcoin-qt is not synchronized, you can import addresses to Electrum and then send coind from imported addresses to one of your Electrum address

If he imports the addresses to Electrum there is no need to send Coins from Electrum to Electrum.

If you just send the Coins from your old QT-wallet to the new Electrum-wallet, you don't need to care about your old backups anymore, seems like less work.
And it is definetely less work to just send them than to export/import each and every address from one wallet to the other.

If you don't really need the addresses, it's easier to just send Coins.
If you really need the addresses (or some of them), you can still export/import them later (if you keep at least one backup).

He should, indeed. If he cannot use Bitcoin-qt to send the coins to an Electrum address and import them into Electrum, the best he can do is send the coins in the imported address to one of his Electrum addresses.

So, it is recommended for Electrum users to use Electrum addresses because those can be restored from the seed, imported addresses cannot. Unless you have a Vanity address can only be used importing it.
