I don't see how it would affect the price.

Just a few weeks ago I was reading Wikipedia articles about the papacy and thinking that I'd like to see a new pope get elected soon. The induction ceremonies might be interesting. Apparently there's some chance that the new pope will be non-white, which would be very strange/interesting.

I wonder what luke-jr thinks about the abdication.

it is said the next pope will be the last pope and the next few months are going to be exciting.

Official explanations aside, I bet he retired out of frustration over this whole 2012-end-of-the-world-"He should be arriving any minute I swear"-debacle.
