You want to watch FW Murnau's 1924 silent film "Der Letzte Mann" / "The Last Laugh". Though almost entirely studio shot, it replicates the dichotomy in living conditions between rich and poor very very well as well as the prevalence of Standesdünkel (class snobbery) and Gehorsamspflicht (duty of obedience). It's up on youtube. |
