I would say go for the silver coins. Many gold coins have been attempted or done here.
But dropping $2500 isn't easy for what I believe is most of the community.

Bad ass coin...just don't ruin platinum assholes...lol. seriously I probably won't buy a $2500 physical litecoin, maybe a silver one at a much lower price point.

Sounds like it would be a lovely and unique coin .... but I dont reckon LTC is the way to go. Why not go the bitcoin route but keep the platinum ? It would be more likely to be popular perhaps
It took Ognasty a long time to get the gold coins sold, and I am not sure that there were 10 unique buyers. Og is a long standing maker of coins, and has started with smaller coins, and built up reputation and trust, steadily getting bigger and more expensive coins. Going for a high end coin as a first offering is a brave move, but I wish you luck

Thank you for the thoughtful feedback, I may reconsider the platinum for a 2oz or 5oz silver spot. As we define the concept and lock up the design, I will update this thread accordingly.

I think creating a platinum coin would give you a unique selling point, don't know of any others that were sold in the crypto market. However that metal seems to contribute heavily towards the price, can you make it look good on a half oz coin or maybe have a mixed metal like the 2 pound coin. As others have said, mass market around here will see you sell out at a ceiling of $500 - if it is really special. Even then you can aim for a limited run of 25 to 50 minimum.

I'd be interested in a silver coin, but my pockets do not run deep enough for a $2.5k coin

I wish you luck. It is inevitable that a platinum coin will be produced by this community and I hope it's a good one. It may seem expensive now, but that could change after the halving.

I would buy a 2oz/5oz silver coin with a 50 LTC denomination of the price was fair. The problem with small minting runs is that the cost is divided by the limited coins and there's no widespread absorption of the cost. Factor in the other costs such as the design, shipping, assembly and then the markup, you end up with a highly overpriced coin that few people can afford.

Thanks again for all the replies, in a life of mundane work and parenthood, it's crypto and community that keeps me ticking as an individual and pleased to have met a user like mindtrip to enjoy this hobby with.
(1) I've established an artist, I hope a carbon design will be available for feedback within two weeks. (2) I will need a graphic designer to quickly turn around the paper product (BTC/LTC compensated) (3) The coin will be designed to store LTC and BTC, pre-loading of the coin TBD. (4) The metal is TBD✌
I look forward to interacting with fine people as this project evolves. It's not an if, it's a when. I'm excited about the design and I can't wait to share it.
Peace, NLC

I'm glad you've decided to have the coin store BTC as well, as I think it appeals to a larger audience

Found a reasonable price with an established mint today and initiating the design. I hope to have Mindtrip's approval within a weeks time. As soon as I meet with the artist over the weekend, I'll leak some design info as well. I encourage you to evaluate it with and without pants on. The cost for developing the dies are no joke. I was not expecting it to be so expensive. Nothing has been set in stone, but my gorilla math yields a Projection: 1.75BTC per 5oz silver or 8.25BTC per 2oz platinum. The coins will be 63.5mm or 39mm respectively in the mint finish you'd expect of a treasure.
My intent is making ZERO profit from this project, amortizing the costs against the limited run, and be completely transparent to any investor. While we've never done this before, we've never let any one down to my recollection. You have to start somewhere I guess, and I hope the client base appreciates our initial offering. I'm looking at 75 days to get these guys tied up in a knot to your door. I hear the requests for unloaded examples and that will likely be the path for coins 2-10 (or beyond, I already have 3 non-forum interests). However, the first one is going to be special, wait for it.
Peace, NLC

Not too sure you are taking the advice others have given onboard, you still seem to be adamant on a 5 oz silver or 2 oz platinum when everyone is warning you off it. I'm a nobody here, as are you, so you have very little reputation around here to fall back on. I would say an oversized coin (bigger than 1 oz) will be a tough sell and doesn't "fit in" with other collectibles. You deserve to make a small profit on it, but a tiny run of ten will prevent that..

Personally, I'd rather not prefer another 5 oz Silver like the Nastyfans 5 Seat (aka the Hockey Puck). I find it rather large, and less coin, and more of a medallion. Just my preference, not meant in any way a jab at their coins. I collect most all of theirs. A 2oz Platinum is likely more expensive than people wish to commit, with a somewhat new/less known seller. For example, gravitate (microsoul) is very well known and is going with a 1/4oz Platinum I believe. I would suggest around a 1oz Silver (or 1/4 oz up to 2oz) , which is a more safe bet and common size/material. While I appreciate smaller runs of under 25 coins, just note that the smaller the run, the more cost each coin has to absorb for minting, dies, and holos. 10 coins is a very small run, which creates rarity, but certainly costs per unit go up. You may wish to refer to bigtimespaghetti's guide and/or service. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1313324.0

Ah, Come on fortify, im a little better than a nobody😟
Everyone sit tight for the design and we'll chat. Regardless of the number of the run, the dies cost is the same. Put get interest for more than 10, shit if I get interest for 50, that will change the strategy of course and may be the project will end up as a 2oz silver. I just assumed only 10 people would want this example😜

I've been told it's going to take approximately 88 years to generate those 72 addresses, will reassess with 4x280x on the job.
Alternatives are XNaTTy(1-Z) XMiNdTrIp (1-Z)
Thoughts?
