It would have been nice if the Welcome registration email told people that.  But then the trolls would know.. and easily do what trolls do, and so new users like us have to be really interested to not give up on this site.

yeah - it took me a bit to figure it out as well

This rule snagged me too...  I'm not a regular user of forums.  This is the first one I've signed up for in ages.  So I guess I'm not familiar with the process.  But it would have been nice to get that information in a welcome email.

I've been wishing for post access to the alt-coin forum for a month now.

Also, no 'help' email addresses listed anywhere.

How about putting the "Newbies" forum at the top of the list of forums for anyone who can only post in Newbies?  Then I wouldn't have missed it.

As it is, I looked at the top few forums and never looked at the bottom ones.

Lol, I agree that they could send an email or explain it more clearly. But if you are here for a month, you probably could have find the "NEWBIE README" thread and understood what you have to do before unlocking the altcoin forum

Perhaps I could have, but I wasn't looking for it.  I didn't even realize it existed.  I'm not a regular user of forums.  I basically just logged on and read the alt-coin forum, waiting for the day that I could actually respond to some of the threads and looking for an email address to request help from.  Yeah, I didn't look around enough.

You are still a newbie, but your limitation should be lifted soon ( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=237597.0 )

It's pretty annoying.  I don't like posting just for the sake of posting.  I think we should be able to sign via bitcoin days of addresses we control, or something more sophisticated like this Smiley
