I have created an account and been unable to find any "reply" button or any method to respond to any other post.
Creating this new topic under "Bitcoin Forum > Local > Other >" is the ONLY means I have to post on this forum.

NO way is this happening to everyone or the admins would notice nobody is posting.
Is my IP blocked or something?

In order to get the maximum amount of activity points possible, you just need to post once per day on average. Skipping days is OK as long as you maintain the average.

Due to a mass of trolling, only established posters are able to post in non-newbie sections. You are considered "established" if you have spent 4 hours online and have made 5 posts (new topics or replies).

If you have really good posts, you can post a request for preemptive whitelisting in the appropriate topic.

Also:
- Newbies cannot upload their own avatars.
- You must have made one post in order to send PMs.
- You need 10 posts to put a link in your signature.

Note that it may take up to 10 minutes for your PM or posting permissions to be granted. (The system automatically checks every 10 minutes and promotes people as appropriate.)

Ok, Thank you to the person that replied to me and told me whats up.
Due to trolls etc.. I have to be logged in for 4 hours, and have a bunch of posts.

It would have been nice if the Welcome registration email told people that.  But then the trolls would know.. and easily do what trolls do, and so new users like us have to be really interested to not give up on this site.

It is pinned to the top section of the Newbies forum.  You also should have seen this screen when you signed up:

I've been wondering the same thing for awhile, I have plenty of hours logged in, but I never realized I needed the 5 posts in the newbie section.

Well thats annoying..

So i will have to search these forums for 5 hours and write 5 totally pointless threads, until I can ask for help? Rethink it..

I have a problem, i have setup Litecoin and got a pool(s) and worker(s) and running with CGMiner and it says it's working and stuff, but the websits of the pools doesnt update or show any progress.. like it hasnt even been running.. any fix?

If you look at the bitcointalk stats here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=stats you can see the newbie board is the second most active on this forum. Create a post in the newbie board with the title 'Help CGMiner not updating' and I'm sure someone will help you solve your problem.

Totally agree with indianocean. This is an artificial restriction which may or may not be very effective in stopping "trolls" but is sure to create problems for any active new member.

I now have a problem which is specific to slush's pool and I would like to post my question there, isntead I need to think up 5 silly non-informative replies in order to "go to the next level"...

Or . . . . . . .

You could just post your question here in the Newbie Forum.  Then later when you reach Jr. Member status you can move that post to the appropriate mining forum if you haven't yet received a useful answer.
