I think The Bitcoin's community have to advertise this crypto currency a lot more in many ways; there is a great number of people worldwide don't even know anything about this currency till now, not even heard about it.
Suggest your preferred methods to advertise , promote and spread the word about Bitcoin everywhere, that could really help the community and the Bitcoin itself.

I do like your suggestions and will list some ways that we could do, in order to promote BTCitcoin to a wider audience:

1. Those that are popular in social networks (Fb,YT,Tw), could easily say stuff about BTCitcoin or accept donations in BTCitcoin or even better, give rewards in BTCitcoin to their followers.
2. Make self funded (nothing too fancy) campaigns towards educating the surrounding communities (real life) about it.
3. Add BTCitcoin to the payment options for the services they offer (in real life).
4. Try to introduce how easy and small a BTCitcoin transactions are to those that are in need of sending funds to their family when their working abroad.

My preferred methods to advertise bitcoin is without any dude, the social networks, easy to share all info needed with no cost at all, well you just need a isp connection and few minutes in our busy lives to share it...

for those who have business in real life, they could just simply accept bitcoins; webmaster just need to use some banners on his sites etc etc, but as i say social networks is the faster simply and easy way to promote it.

I'll second your motion.
Bitcoin has no center and no coordinated projects. It really is spreading by grass roots / word of mouth efforts from users. There is a lot you can do including:
Basic:
1. Take a moment to explain it to a newbie.
2. Demand the option to pay with at local businesses and show them the advantages of accepting bitcoin.

Advanced:
3. Print up paper wallets with a little coin and give them away. The paper wallet can include information about bitcoin, links, propaganda, etc.
4. Host a training for businesses that wish to start taking bitcoin.

Crazy:
5. Meet with people to lobby governments and financial institutions. Teach them how to make good bitcoin policy.

I have done all these and will continue to do so.  My current project is to persuade the government of Iceland. I will be meeting with the pirate party later this year in Reykjavik. I started with printing paper wallets with a bitcoin button pinned on. All paid for in bitcoin of course.

Social network is the future of all advertising as it has the highest hit rate success so far, and bitcoin make no difference in this context so I think Twitter and Facebook is good to help spread the world, but be aware, lots of scammers opens their fb or twitter page promoting ponzi and other scams, so be careful.

Agree with the community being responsible for getting the word out since media will ignore it till it is forced to acknowledge the strength of bitcoin.

One place coming up on the 20th would be the 4/20 celebrations that go on in a lot of areas for legalization of pot. You could hand out little bitcoin cards for people to scan and get interested in bitcoin.
Need little aspects like that where the people may be more open to using bitcoin, like that comic con(Sp.) where people dress up!

So exactly what is your plan here? You want hundreds/thousands of signature spam where members keep repeating their futile suggestions even though they have no intention of doing anything? I highly suggest that you lock this thread after you receive a small amount of suggestions as it will be adequate (if you plan to do something with this information).

I don't have anything particular in mind, but I'm aware of this problem. Companies that are successfully highly depend on marketing and even spend billions yearly in order to achieve their user bases. Bitcoin is different due to its decentralized nature. Basically, one could just be throwing away their own money and as a result either: 1) Almost nothing happens; 2) Someone else earns money (e.g. another company). If Bitcoin goes 'viral' (as they say) it would skyrocket and be very popular probably within a few weeks.

Why this thread out of all the threads you could attack for signature spam, you choose one that is talking about getting people out and actively contributing to bringing in more people. Must have something against the OP otherwise this really feels off when you can see a ton of thread on "How can I make _____ bitcoin" that go unchecked!

Getting more people in the community involved has to be addressed and brainstorming is the best way of achieving this. Gorilla marketing is most likely the best way to get people interested in bitcion in events that gather people with potentially similar aspects.

I mentioned 4/20 and think many people can target that event in theire communities if they can put up with the smoke.
Outdoor concerts, political rallies, can go on and on.

Dont mind the way Lauda starts to reply: i made your same mistake on my posts but reading it deeper you will realize what he really meant. Behind his "WTF you wrote??" or "Why this thread?" (very entertaining to me  Grin), you can feel the following:

1.- your post is a potentially high evaluable post with concepts that would be very constructive to this forum and to the Bitcoin community in general. so it got his attention!

2.- usually the first part of his reply are by his Staff Soul:
So exactly what is your plan here? You want hundreds/thousands of signature spam where members keep repeating their futile suggestions even though they have no intention of doing anything?
He is right: too many good posts in this forum are going directly to trash because of signature spammers and their futile suggestions and the fact he replies so in yoru post, means he sees the potential and DONT WANT your post ruined.

3.- The second part, separated by the horizontal line, is going to be the most ON-TOPIC (and interesting):
Companies that are successfully highly depend on marketing and even spend billions yearly in order to achieve their user bases.
That's so true and a great idea: a marketing manager, crowfunded globally by its users, would give Bitcoin an organized, professional, globally spread advertising campaign on media, socials, viral platforms that yes..."it would skyrocket and be very popular probably within a few weeks."

It is a very good seed...Thanks Lauda and thanks OP

Not at all, i thought that's should be interesting and helpful and not in my intention to allow spammers making useless comments here, already there is a lot of no sense threads where spammers post their sit posts daily without getting such notices usually.
All my intention is just helping Bitcoin's fans to advertise this currency in many ways and methods, and i think that's helpful and already needed.

Thanks mate, that's what i meant, and i believe this thread could really be helpful if everyone give the community useful ideas and suggestions to spread the word about Bitcoin.

@OP The thing is it isn't as easy as simply going out and saying that people should check out Bitcoin, or even getting them to watch videos or talk about it.

Someone has to be genuinely interested in Bitcoin for there to be a chance of them even considering getting into Bitcoin, and Bitcoin is not something a lot of people have interest in. If they are interested in it, chances are they check it out, and have made their decision on if they want to participate or not. Bitcoin was big news in 2013, and that was when I got into it, and I have a feeling most other people did too at that point.

Unless something big happens with Bitcoin and it gets publicized again, I would really doubt the impact any of us can have until people decide they are interested on their own terms.

The community has also some responsibility in advertising bitcoin to other/potential user of bitcoin.
The developers cant do it alone and the community is the main source of life in bitcoin.
Just by sharing or having a nice talk with some of our buddies would/will help bitcoin to have new users/investor.

I do not think we need to promote. Or at least for now. What we need to do now is to create a better and easier foundation. In order to attract the non tech-savvy people to use Bitcoin, it got to be simple. In addition to it, (selfish), let's get more Bitcoin first before it get mainstreamed. :p.

To answer you question, I feel that we could promote cryptocurrency on social platforms like Facebook and Twitter since our targeted users are those with internet access.

So sad! This profile does not appear as the #1 result (on anonymous) Google searches anymore.

I tried a lot of things :

# We have regular meetups, where we invite people to listen to experienced users with Q&A sessions.
# We have done Bitcoin drops.
# We distributed Bitcoin pamphlets with links to online resources.
# We approached merchants and explained the advantages for them to accept Bitcoin as a payment method.

I found that the best way to promote Bitcoin was to give people the opportunity to earn Bitcoin and then have them spending it online. This way they learn hands-on what the difference is between Bitcoin and the other online payment methods. So we should find ways for people to earn Bitcoins and also increase merchant adoption for them to have places to spend it.  ^smile^

Stating facts != attack (keep in mind that I wrote "I highly suggest"). I've replied here as I'm aware of the issue and interested in solutions. Sig. campaign is inevitable. Take a look in other threads in this section that have a lot of replies.

Getting more people in the community involved has to be addressed and brainstorming is the best way of achieving this.
Show me what this 'community' achieved. Roll Eyes

Exactly; it is good to know that at least some people understand it.

All my intention is just helping Bitcoin's fans to advertise this currency in many ways and methods, and i think that's helpful and already needed.
I agree with it being needed as I've mentioned that in my post already. However, keep in mind that a long thread of thousands of posts does nothing. Just talking is ineffective, action needs to be taken. Once you have enough suggestions it might be wise to lock it as you are just going to keep getting the same (albeit rewritten) replies.

Suggest your preferred methods to advertise , promote and spread the word about Bitcoin everywhere, that could really help the community and the Bitcoin itself.

Even with lots of advertisements if people don't want to engage then it's useless. There are people that even after hearing some great bitcoin earnings they will got from doing bitcoin jobs, explaining them nicely some basic thoughts about bitcoin, no hassle of sending and receiving money still they are not interested. If they really want to know bitcoin more they will come even without those bitcoin ads.

In my country converting to bitcoin in our fiat is just one click away with the help of our local exchange wallet provider which also give us the ability to use our bitcoins to top up our mobile credits with rebate, pay major bills like electricity, water etc. and even pay tuition fees from selected university. There are lots of options offered by that company on how their users would like to buy and sell their bitcoins. Even buying bitcoins from a convenience is possible here.

But even with the comfortable services like that most people here are not interested. In other country there aren't some services like that so how much more in that country in terms of spreading.

What I see the most effective way is by Social Media. No sense if we will advertise here in this forum as all users here are already involved in bitcoin. I see Social Media quite a big help especially in Facebook. I saw many facebook group here now in my country about Bitcoin including Bitcoin Traders Group.

But as I mentioned, it all depends on the people if they are really interested.
