Hi all,
Based on past experience, I can predict the first one or 2 people to try to complain about this type of post, so F offf...
My first confirmation is taking way to Effing long!!!

This time, I gave more then the min. required fee, and the transaction still was ignored in a block with over 3,000 transactions.
I Love Bitcoin, but it has serious issues which need to be solved soon.

Hi all,

And yet you make the post anyhow?  Why bother?

so F offf...

Manners, sir.

My first confirmation is taking way to Effing long!!!

Then pay a higher transaction fee next time (but I suppose you already knew that didn't you)?

This time, I gave more then the min. required fee,

I assume you're talking about the minimum to be relayed, because there is no minimum to be guaranteed space in a block.

and the transaction still was ignored in a block with over 3,000 transactions.

Perhaps those 3,000 transactions paid a higher fee per byte than you did?

I have a very limited amount of free time each day:
Socially acceptable words cannot begin to describe how much the Bitcoin network has failed to perform today.

The bitcoin network has performed exactly as designed today. The fact that you are incapable of using it properly isn't proof that it's failed to perform.

Medium/advanced Bitcoin users should always (as habit) take a look at the mempool size before sending txs.
I personally check out https://bitcoinfees.21.co/ and https://tradeblock.com/bitcoin since I always do custom fees.

How much fee did you give? How long did it take to confirm?

I support a decentralized & unregulatable ledger first, with safe scaling over time.

If you don't have the time to wait for a confirmation, why not use a credit card?  That's pretty quick.  Nobody is going to fault you for using an alternative to Bitcoin once in a while.

Yeah bro I feel your pain.  Some transactions are lightning-quick, others get stuck for hours sometimes.  It pisses me off most when I'm transferring coin to an exchange and want to start trading right away.  The waaaaiiiit...sucks.  I'm sure you remember the stress testing that was going on a few months ago.  It hasn't been that bad lately at least.

Just because you used a fee higher than required minimum fee of 0.0001BTC, doesn't mean it's going to be confirm in the next block. Did you try to actually compute an estimate to the size of the transaction you made prior to sending and give a fee base on it? transaction size and fees used per byte is what makes it to confirm in either the first block found or the next one's. Could you post the transaction link, so we could evaluate the situation?

If a more experienced user like OP fails to calculate the appropriate fee for faster transaction confirmation, how would a newbie user be able to calculate this. Some wallet providers calculate this fee for the user, but a new user might not use these services. In this aspect I agree with OP, we should make this option more user friendly for the users, otherwise new users will think this is the norm and then turn their back on Bitcoin.

I can share his frustration, because I have made this mistake too, when I added a fee higher than required minimum fee and it still took longer than what I anticipated. ^hmmmm^

an automated fee set up should be really needed to make bitcoin users experience an easy & comfort feel when sending a bitcoin or make a transaction,i'm usually using blockchain.info's automated fee set up and everything's going fine

I must admit that I also recently had this.. Before it was always included in the first block to be mined, but this time it took till the third block to be included. In addition, blocks were being generated really slow (2x more than 30 minutes..) so it took forever.

This was probably the reason though, blocks filled up with people paying the same fee and I was just put in queue. Sucks, but it is the way it works.

Feels broken though, 3,000 transactions and not being included in the block when you pay a sufficient fee.

Well, if anyone makes the same msitake in future (and I've forgot to include sufficient fees in the past also), the solution is here already: fee replacement. I think it only works on the command line right now, but that should provide incentive to those that don't normally use the command line IMO.

Bitcoin developers can't implement everything at once, it all takes some amount of time/effort, and time/coding-expertise are both limited. I guess the question is: how badly do people want an improved Bitcoin? Because if someone had started work on adding fee-replacement to the graphical interface, say about 12 months ago, this thread probably wouldn't exist. But Jonas Schnelli only really just started the job, so, there you go.

It has become clear in the past few months that you cannot rely on the bitcoin network, specially if you want speed.

Until some scaling solution is adopted you should abstain from transact on the network.

My mempool is at ~1.2 GB and showing 40k unconfirmed transactions. However, keep in mind that most of this is spam:

As long as your fee is adequate you will be fine. Delay will only occur when there is unusual block timing.

So much complaining about a transaction, yet no link to the transaction itself. Get real, or gtfo.

Thats nothing to complain about, maybe the network is busy enough, everyone will get their transaction in a timely manner based on network distribution, so you and everyone else should patiently wait. Maximum I have ever waited for a confirmation is 24 minutes which is not a big amount of time.

Unless you are doing something illegal with Btc and you need lightning fast transactions.
