Interesting find! I've tried this yesterday I think, but upon receiving the error nothing happened and I ignored it. I've changed it a few moments ago, but did not refresh and thus I didn't notice.

I haven't tried login yet since I don't want to change my password. but yea that's a good feature I wanna change my username as well.
So when is this going to be done and not just beta?  Seen the new forum thread in the forum posted almost a year ago.

So when is this going to be done and not just beta?  Seen the new forum thread in the forum posted almost a year ago.

You can login without changing the password, click on forgot password and then when it asks to enter new password, just enter the old one only.
BTW, the registration of new accounts on beta forum is currently stopped by thymos.

That can not be known at this time. There are many bugs to be fixed and things to be sorted out.

Very bizzare, on my ipad the new beta does not load all i get is request timeout error maybe it's the browser i will try it again on a different one.

No. Even if changing the display name gets allowed, display name != username. If you take a closer look at the posts in the beta, you will notice that left is the username (with a bigger font) and on the right is the display name (smaller).

You need to follow the instructions and reset the password, though you can set the current password only in the input box !
But currently the registrations are off on beta forum.

Due to some spam that the software wasn't quite prepared to handle yet, registration of new users is disabled for now.

Have you had any 'luck' with reproducing the problem? I've tried on a few android phones and it seems to work fine on Chrome. Try different browsers or some iPhone or other iOS device if you have one.

Don't do that. Don't use the same password on multiple sites, even if one is a beta of another. If the beta site leaks passwords your main account can get compromised.

I made a new account to access the earliest pre-beta site, but when I tried using it to log into the official beta site it said my credentials were unrecognised. Has my other account been deleted? I didn't make any posts with it, I only used it to view the pre-beta site.

Did you create the new account today? If so, you might have overlooked at theymos post.
