Steam acceptance is going to happen soon, also the ETH price is going down so the traders are moving back to bitcoin, the same with the LISK.

1) Segwit is not live.
2) Stop making threads in the wrong section.

Steam BTC acceptance
I was not even aware of this. After doing some research, it also seems like Steam does not currently accept Bitcoin. They stated that they will do so in the future.

I think it can mostly be correlated with Ethereum's bubble appearing no longer sustainable. The big whales have left ETH markets and it's price is going down contrary to bitcoin which keeps receiving more attention as of recently.

My guess is that this price increase has more to do with the block halving as in people buying themselves some coins before it's too late. Other than that I can't think of something else.

BSV is not the real Bcash. Bcash is the real Bcash.

I get the whole use the "speculation thread"... didn't think the forum would be that anal about a misplaced thread.
Segwit going live soon is a legit reason for buying coins... as is steam users gearing up.
For sure the halving is playing a role... if you don't mind contributing in this rogue thread what are your thoughts on the reasons for the increase?

Either you are talking about a very dumb group or people or I just don't understand the point behind this. Code submitted for merge != Segwit going live. We always knew that Segwit was coming, there was Segnet. Nothing special. It will most likely be activated sometime after the halving. There are still things to do.

I get the whole use the "speculation thread"... didn't think the forum would be that anal about a misplaced thread.
That section exists for a reason; to keep pointless threads such as this one away from this section. It will be moved shortly.

I'm sure in the next 80 days the price will start to change a lot more than we have seen in the past 325 days.

I think this halving might have some impact on the price

See today's markets there was a good rise then the tail off..

Even if shapeshift has started to sell it on their site that will not save it, so the whales are right on this. They stuck with it even after their loss to hack attack.

My guess is that this price increase has more to do with the block halving as in people buying themselves some coins before it's too late. Other than that I can't think of something else.
This is what most of the normal bitcoiners (none whales or bears) like us are hoping for.
Now is the time to buy even if you don't have enough to spend on it.

To be fair, he's not wrong. A lot of people on this forum care about putting stuff where it should, and we shouldn't put threads in places they aren't supposed to be. This is a place for (hopefully) logical discussion about Bitcoin.

As for segwit, I'm still not sure if I want to agree or disagree with it. But that shouldn't be in this section, as this is speculation.

More buyers than sellers.  Thank you, Jesse Livermore.

And as I write this,  we're at 445ish which really isn't all that much of a gain in the world of bitcoin.  Wake me up when we hit 500.

I do not think that the price increase is now due to just steam accept bitcoin as a payment, see epidemic ago there was news that the Nasdaq accept bitcoin but not surge higher prices.

Trying to put a finger on the nice increase recently...
Some possibilities:
1) Segwit going live
2) Open Bizzaar up and running
3) Steam BTC acceptance

Other thoughts?

1) i think this can be effective but it hasn't gone live, it is just a very early stage. so if there is an effect it would be tiny at this point.
2) i totally agree with this, with openBazaar growing there will be a lot of good things happening with bitcoin
3) steam accepting bitcoin is not official, and it came out 1-2 months ago and not yet started.
EDIT: they still don't accept bitcoin but apparently they are officially doing the groundwork. ref: https://redd.it/4fuk6c

+
4) with ETH dying slowly, the money is coming back to bitcoin. this is biggest IMO
5) there is always halving effect

it is a small pump, nothing major, probably price correction after a long stagnation, the value can not remember stuck there forever it must move at some point

and it can go up or down you know...next tiem it's better to open a thread if it skyrocket to 500 in few hours, not for these worthless movements...

Being nice is not necessary.
As for segwit, I'm still not sure if I want to agree or disagree with it. But that shouldn't be in this section, as this is speculation.
There's nothing really to disagree with it. All (or the majority) of the developers are 'fond' of Segwit. Regardless of whether you agree, or disagree with it, it will be merged.

EDIT: they still don't accept bitcoin but apparently they are officially doing the groundwork. ref: https://redd.it/4fuk6c
There is no official announcement from Valve, so do not use the word 'official'.
