We welcome the initiative to accept Bitcoin, but which third party payment processor will be used? If this company have expensive fees, we will see very little incentive for people to move from their current payment option to Bitcoin. The Steam community is huge and this is good news for us, but I sincerely hope that they going to chose a good payment processor. ^hmmmm^

this is great news nonetheless, especially for all the bitcoin users. also it shows that there was a lot of requests that made steam use bitcoin by adding it to payment methods. also i doubt if the payment processors for bitcoin have higher fees than PayPal or other payment processors for fiat.

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip. Whales are those who keep buying the dip.

Steam accepting bitcoin would be quite huge. Not only has it got millions of users that get exposed to bitcoin, they are also the type of people that are not scared to use something like bitcoin and they are used to spending a lot of money on games and hardware.
Spreading bitcoin adoptance to gamers is one of the biggest steps that can be taken at the moment I guess. After that, the masses will slowly follow as boards will fill up about how easy it was to buy stuff with bitcoin.
These rumors were going around a while ago as well, nice to see it looks liek it is becoming real!

I think Steam will probably facilitate Bitcoin payments through BitPay. I am more interested in buying games during the holdiay sales when there are massive discounts. I don't like G2A so I will be very happy to get games on Steam with Bitcoin. Now it all depends on if there will be special discounts when shopping with Bitcoin or not.

It would be good if there was some kind of promotion for a little while to encourage bitcoin use but I think it will be just straight forward market conversion rate, who knows, exciting times nevertheless.

it is always better to use them directly rather than going through a third party website. also you should remember that all those 3rd party websites are buying these games cheap from other users or from promotions like summer sale. something that we can do on our own. also having money in your steam wallet never hurts because you might find good prices on the marketplace to buy stuff.

Not going to happen, the fact some merchant starts accepting bitcoin doesn't mean a lot of people will adopt bitcoin, the most probable outcome is merchant eventually dropping bitcoin because no one is using it.
But if "millions of buyers came in" that would be catastrophic, the network can't even properly handle current usage, imagine with "millions of buyers" more.

I don't think just because steam is accepting Bitcoin it will attract millions of new buyers.
Sure, some people will indeed buy Bitcoin to spend it on steam but I think those that already hold some Bitcoins will be the one that is going to spend it there.

Finally after months of speculation, here comes the reality. Not sure if it will be millions of buyers (new comers) though since those that were not able to buy directly/indirectly steam funds, are the new buyers (country related) of BTCitcoin for this purpose and AFAIK, their not that much (unfortunately) but regardless of everything, it's nice seeing a known digital gaming platform, accepts BTCitcoin and it will be matter of time before others accept it as well.

I think this is great news and wont take as long as people think to get people buying games with it.
Anyone buying games will notice it as a paying option especially teens and may look to earn BTC to pay for games and keep spreading the word to more generations.

Such news are good for people that were already using bitcoin and Steam. It'll also help a global service like steam accept a global payment, at least at the side of the customer. But I don't think it'll lead millions of buyers to buy bitcoin exclusively to get items of games from Steam's platform. Steam already accepts several payment methods that are convenient for each region. The cases in which people would buy bitcoin exclusively to buy from

That's definitely a good news for bitcoin believers: when a big company decide to implement BTC as form of payment to reach another share of market it means we are an important market share in their eyes. In my opinion it's likely other operators will get the same decision anytime soon : starting from Steam competitors and followed by other markets operators.
The day the sites like amazon, ebay and alibaba will accept Bitcoin payments will be a good one for us.
