Daughter of course I was trying to think of a permanent gift and a peronalized blockchain ledger coin made sense as this would be an excellelent learning curve for responsible banking at a personal level for all young generations. The idea simplifies the thought "We are cryptocurrency". Personalized blockchains are included in the IOT/IOE in the near future so why not have a personalized cryptocoin token to begin with.
What value will the coin store is for the free market to decide.

Hi Quartx thank you for your comment. LanaCoin is 100% dedicated to my daughter for her 10th birthday. Genesis block is set for the exact minute of her 10th birthday. Please check my forum sig onename id url, i am 100% open on my identity. LanaCoin code is based on blackcoin source with a lot of cleanups being done by my dev (we wherent planning on reinventing the wheel). As i am not a coder by profession but instead an IT systems admin i am taking care of the network part for the coin while the main code dev is a friend of mine that i trust to do the job right. I have no expectations on how LanaCoin blockchain ledger will perform in the open market not how many cryptionians will support it in any way possible. One thing i can promise to everyone i will keep the seed node network running the same way i keep all my systems running.

Please take it easy on the language Pythonideus, my daughter will be reading this one day! I am not a bit worried about the mining part. There is so much asics for sha256 algo out there just waiting to mine something.
If you choose to mine LanaCoin you are not mining it for Lana or are you such a sweetheart that you mine any coin for them. LanaCoin is having an open launch and no one will mine the coin one second before the unix time of ber 10th birthday. Therefore its up to you do decide if its worth your while. Hi wildduck there is an idea present and it involves building a decentralized social network that is powered by LanaCoin , but its still just an idea. Where the development road will lead is not just up to me as cryptos are an open market and i will listed to the community and then built services on top of the ledger. The PoW stage is set to aprox 7 years so there is plenty of time to built the service layer on top of the chain.
