I'm running it on the system that I'm on right now.. can connect to slush's pool and mining like a champ... my wife wanted to do some mining as well on her rig.. so got everything set up.. but she's getting errors on log in.

IO error 1, tolerance 2
IO error 2, tolerance 2
etc...

then it's saying no more back up servers.. using primary

The thing is.. our systems are 100% identical

Why is she getting major errors and I'm not?

Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.
