http://drcraigwright.net/ I'm Sorry. I believed I could do this. I believed that I could put years of anonymity and hiding behind me. But, as the events of this week unfolded and I prepared to publish the proof of access to the earliest keys, I broke. I do not have the courage. I cannot. When the rumors began, my qualifications and character were attacked. When those allegations were proven false, new allegations have already begun. I know now that I am not strong enough for this. I know that his weakness will cause great damage to those that have supported me, and particularly to Jon Matonis and Gavin Anderson. I can only hope that their honour and credibility is not irreparably tainted by my actions. They were not deceived, but I know that the world will never believe that now. I can only say I'm sorry. And goodbye.

One good reddit theory was that he was being investigated in Australia for tax evasion since he didn't have proof of a $54 million tax write-off in spending for his company. So, bitcoin and its anonymous transactions is the perfect cover.

crazy. Gavin has to now provide full details of their meeting so we can figure out what happened and how he was convinced - it will make understanding this more digestible.

It appears that the entire fiasco was crafted to destroy Matonis and Andresen. He has apparently taken the fall in order to hand more power to those who are not Matonis and Andresen. But the saga may not be fully played out yet...

the "brand new" laptop wasn't "brand new", it was setup with some environment variables which when he key in the cmds to check the sig of a key it would always say the sig was good, or somthing. gavin's mistake was to think that the "brand new" laptop wasn't tampered with. or drcraigwright really did have the keys he just put on this whole show and dance for everyone else so we would all think he is forsure not satoshi. think about it, if you had 1.1million coins would you not go to gr8 lengths to remain anonymous. and if you were about to be found out, would you not try and prove that you aren't satoshi. if he is satoshi he's done a good job making everyone believe he isn't. Craig Wright may or may not be "satoshi", but he was there from day 1 pretty much, that much seems clear. I hope the community doesn't hate on this guy forever and allows for "reasonable doubt" to let this slide. Craig Wright after all is a valuable person to have on our team, regardless of this bizarre incident.

Kind of a disappointing ending to a otherwise exciting week. Not that I thought Wright was ever Satoshi, I just thought his exposure as a hoax would have been more spectacular.

Guess this means Satoshi's million coins won't be going anywhere for the time being... fears of market crash averted.

No, no really. I expected nothing more. The whole case and Craig's strange approach, beating around the bush, not confirming anything, not revealing EASY and the most believable evidence - such as simple signed message of Satoshi's early address was enough of confirmation of a hoax.

Ah, so *that* was his plan to cover up for the fact his deception attempt was falling apart, to simply cite 'tone complaint' and storm off in a huff.
Pathetic.
