I don't think Craig will attempt anything anymore. His reputation along with Gavin's is tarnished.
I can't say for sure that his was bluffing from the start, but this ending made me think he is not suitable for being a leader of bitcoin revolution.

crazy. Gavin has to now provide full details of their meeting so we can figure out what happened and how he was convinced - it will make understanding this more digestible.

the "brand new" laptop wasn't "brand new", it was setup with some environment variables which when he key in the cmds to check the sig of a key it would always say the sig was good, or somthing.

gavin's mistake was to think that the "brand new" laptop wasn't tampered with.

or drcraigwright really did have the keys he just put on this whole show and dance for everyone else so we would all think he is forsure not satoshi.

think about it, if you had 1.1million coins would you not go to gr8 lengths to remain anonymous. and if you were about to be found out, would you not try and prove that you aren't satoshi. if he is satoshi he's done a good job making everyone believe he isn't.

Craig Wright may or may not be "satoshi", but he was there from day 1 pretty much, that much seems clear.

I hope the community doesn't hate on this guy forever and allows for "reasonable doubt" to let this slide. Craig Wright after all is a valuable person to have on our team, regardless of this bizarre incident.

    It was a mistake to agree to publish my post before I saw his– I assumed his post would simply be a signed message anybody could easily verify.

    And it was probably a mistake to even start to play the Find Satoshi game, but I DO feel grateful to Satoshi.

    If I’m lending credibility to the idea that a public key operation should remain private, that is entirely accidental. OF COURSE he should just publish a signed message or (equivalently) move some btc through the key associated with an early block.

Makes no sense Satoshi reveals himself and then not be able to proof he is really the creator and after get full attention on him he thinks and dont wanna to get exposed anymore?This looks like a dream ,and he tryed to be Nakamoto but looks like he isnt at all.The thing is soo easy to proff he is Satoshi with the current core around the bitcoin and his wallets holding several bitcoins were just stake a message from those adress.And the core would confirm the identy as i believe they know the real Satoshi ,anyway its better to keep anonymous without show off for no reason,we respect the person who made bitcoin but we wont respect a person claiming to be and not able to proof.

Still not a good move by Craig for trying to say goodbye to the story he started, without proper ending. His trying to go with a humble ending and saying don't have the courage to do it but were also not 2 year old kids here, can't see what type of courage he needs to prove and back whatever he has been saying lately. I read that Gavin met with Craig, shake his hand and recognized him as real Satoshi somewhere. And now Gavin is backing out saying that he had no idea about it?
To recognize someone as Satoshi you have to be more than sure and I thought Craig showed him some irrefutable proof and that is the reason Gavin supports him.

This is the best he could do in the circumstances. The circumstance being that he is not satoshi and he cannot really prove anything.

What he gained from all of this:
Fame and the claim of being satoshi which millions of people is going to belive.
He does not care that the people that believe he is satoshi is not 100%.
And he does not care that the people that know he is not satoshi are the brightest and most informed part of population.
Scammers never care about the brightest and most informed part of the population.

Scammers only care about the most stupid people and for scammers it is enough that 5% of the worlds stupidest people believe him.
That is enough of a population to scam money from.

He achieved exactly what he wanted to achieve. Now he can start phase 2 of the plan, to scam money from the 5% of population that is forever going to believe in he is satoshi no matter what.

Gavin and Matonis were just collateral damage but Wright needed their service for his hoax to go through in BBC, Economist and whatever press his primary target was.
