Any suggestions for an online wallet?

I'd like to store a portion of my accumulated bitcoins within one or more online wallets. I'm currently looking at Coinbase as an option. My short term goal is to intentionally diversify my online wallet(s). Specifically, I'd like to use ones that have an accessible API and a solid reputation. Or at least as solid as can be. It is easy enough to Google for them, but I'm having a hard time pinpointing the reputable ones.

I'm pretty sure it has a very good reputation, it's very easy to set up, and has a lot of features, like email/dropbox backup and double password protection.

Try it out, it has a lot more features that I didn't state above.

The most reputable one I can think of is https://blockchain.info/wallet

Your private keys are stored encrypted in their database, and only decrypted in your browser when signing transactions.  This means that those who run the site are unable to steal your bitcoin unless they publish a modified web page that captures your password.  If they do this you can be sure people all over the forums here will be shouting about it.  Furthermore there is a browser plugin you can install that can verify that you do not have a modified insecure copy of the web page.

You can have them send you a copy of your wallet file from their database.  That way if they should shut down and disappear, you could load the private keys from that copy into another wallet system and still have access to your bitcoin.

I would trust blockchain.info far more than I would Coinbase, since with Coinbase you have to turn over control of your bitcoin to them.

There are two different types of "online wallet", hosted (shared) EWallets (Mt. Gox, Instawallet, Coinbase, etc.) and hybrid EWallets (Blockchain.info).

The hybrid wallet does not have access to your funds.   The hosted (shared) EWallets hold your funds for you, and you only would submit a request to them when wanting to withdraw.  The counterparty risk is significantly higher with a hosted (shared) EWallet.

If you are looking to lessen some of the risk of holding coins, there are better ways than dividing risk by letting multiples of others hold them for you. (e.g., paper wallets, Armory cold storage, etc.)

I'm on Blockchain.info and have been happy with their services even with my meager account values. My only problem is that their app won't let me pair my iphone with it. I don't know if this is a screen rez problem or what, but also even when I login manually it wont sync. This isn't a real problem in that it honestly makes me feel more secure, but it can be a hassle having to use safari to login on my phone when they claim I can sync my account.

I was able to sync my iPhone.  I think I saw somewhere once that they had issues with pairing a mobile device if the password has certain symbols in it.

Ah, thanks for that man. That makes sense, I have only ever tried to pair it from my laptop and my ipad screen, so I assumed it was a resolution issue. I will give it one more shot from my home PC(when I finally get home from this latest business excursion) and will try changing my password. If I even can.

How do you lose BTC using the wallet? Sounds like there is a problem there.

The URL is the key to your wallet. If you lose it, nobody can be certain of which wallet is yours and the coins will remain unclaimed.

For the time being I've decided to use both blockchain.info and coinbase.com. Mainly due to the ease of use of coinbase. And blockchain because of the several recommendations already listed above. Thanks everyone.
