The biggest things standing in the way of bitcoin becoming a reserve currency is price stability, store of value, and the ability to scale the number of transactions the network can handle, because it is currently a huge impediment to growth.

To some extent, it's already an international currency. I mean, a lot of people all over the world has invested and has gained from it. For now, the number of establishments or businesses that accept BTC may seem limited but that won't stop BTC from gaining more popularity and trust from investors. BTC (or crypto currencies for that matter) will slowly but surely find their way mainstream. The only thing to look out for will be how they'll be regulated (if ever they will be).

Bitcoin has already raise awareness to a lot of people that is why the government are regulating it
but the media is making the news exaggerated which eventually turn into negative news to some who are new in the industry.

Bitcoin became international currency a couple of years past, even now it became more popular in different countries actually.  Besides many people in the entire world are now using its features in terms of payment online and other sending money thru this digital currency whether it is bitcoin/altcoin.

Bitcoins can be spent across borders with small or no transaction fees, making them useful for any purchase.
However, Bitcoin’s inherent strengths have helped it gain popularity for specific use cases.Virtual currencies like Bitcoin make digital payments possible in countries without strong credit systems.Promotions like Bitcoin Black Friday and integrations like the one with Shopify’s 75,000 stores will encourage more merchants to accept the new currency. The more merchants that accept Bitcoin, the more valuable and useful it will become.

As you said, Dollar also an international currency, but why do the world still say it is the currency of U.S? You can exchanges Bitcoin to other currencies doesn't mean it's an international currency. Unless the world used it as the primary currency someday, this concept will be true.

Time off to sleep ... ( ̄︶ ̄)~

If this bitcoin will become an international currency many people of the whole world  would embrace the digital currency, because we can use it everytime whenever in the world should we go,and if ever it is  implemented,we dont need an exchanges because it is accepted wherever across in the global we go,but all of this only a dreams and impossible because as long that bitcoin would not legalize  all over the world, these future dreams will become only a legend.
