I hope not as this would be really bad news for bitcoin security in general especially in the USA.

Bitcoin is dead. Nah. Bitcoin is still very much alive. Transactions are still confirming, devs are still developing, and most tellingly, this forum is still puttering along. But, indeed this bodes poorly if something did happen. They supposedly are the best, so much so, your deposit is insured. Let's hope the claims of enterprise grade security are true, if anything actually happened.

a company should communicate and "say something" not slogans like "Thanks for bringing this up. We're working on communicating and addressing these issues with the affected customers""working" means what? is it a tech problem? is it a banking problem? if it's a banking problem, the term "working" is false. you cannot "work" with a bank. you can just talk and done...then you have to wait.

Aahhmm NO!!! When a company can't protect it's customers' funds it doesn't have anything to do with the Bitcoin system itself. It's the security mechanism by this one service provider that is flawed. Blame the company! And not the network where it is running on!!

I have already decided not to use coinbase anymore after seeing lots of story of ban for using bitcoin for gambling. And i don't think they have right to restrict it. So i am using blockchain.info from start and i think they are capable of handling this all type of hacking attempt unlike coinbase. Hope nobody will loss their coin or money there, hope coinbase will resolve this and get out from this without lossing anything. I have 0.00 bitcoin there.

the most annoying thing that these companies do not understand is that their clients are expecting honesty. "you", as company have problems.OK! Any company may have tech problems but say it straight. Don't come with a shitty corporatist-hipster answer like : "we work...". You work on a shit. What are "you" working on? This kind of answer is fishy and that's why the people are panic....

This issue has been going since awhile back then just now.
Its why people leave coinbase because they dont support the people on what to do. Instead youre forced to read on their sub forums if someone went through something similar hoping there is solution.
But since I already know this case, you need to contact your bank and apply a freeze over your account for payment requests from them which can be done.
Some banks may take 2-3 days while others can be done within an hour of the same day.
Coinbase usually fix it their issues, but it takes awhile to their own terms.

It is unwise to think that any online wallet if free from hacking attempts. Coinbase , blockchain.info or Xobit are basically the same as long as wallet has central point of failure it can be hacked. And how do you know that blockchain's wallet won't change their ToS tomorrow and will ban anyone who ever transferred BTC to known gambling addresses?

I also have most of my bitcoins with them but most of them are in their "vault" storage which they claim being held offline, hopefully at least the vaults are safe then?

I always keep most of my coins on local storage, leaving them up to someone else to handle is just playing with fire if you're doing it for extended periods of time.

I disagree. Not everyone will/can understand the technical aspects of an issue. It would be pointless for them to waste time explaining an issue using concepts/terms that aren't common knowledge. It's best for them to keep it as simple as possible and reassure customers while relying solely on their impeccability as a company. The most important thing is that they acknowledge that there is an issue. By saying "We're working on it" it is understood that they're taking full responsibility in regards to the issue (to the extent dictated by their terms and conditions). Personally I don't need to know what goes on under the hood, as long as they stay true to their word, I'll keep trusting them with my Bitcoins.

It's happen, although the site works now. But for who store bitcoin/asset there, just move it to safe place, use cold storage!! I have told it much time. They have a possibility turn to Mt.gox v2. Beware!!

Baaad news. Get your money out of coinbase. Only put money you are willing to lose in an exchange for long periods of time. I've been scammed by gox, but won't be by coinbase.
