Is it a business reason? Or perhaps the complexity of bitcoin accounting creating potential issues?

What do you think?

Could have several reasons. The negative image of Bitcoin for instance.Or maybe they are waiting for a scaling solution.
Another possibility is they just could create their own coin or accept one the planned bankcoins.Sooner or later we will know in which direction amazon will go.

Because user Bitcoin very little compared to the existing means of payment, they also still have doubts for BTC to receive payment, it would indeed be a big problem for us, but one day amazon.com will definitely accept the BTC as means of payment

Merchant acceptance has hardly been a bonanza anyway. Why would they give up their time and publicity for something that probably wouldn't make them any money?

What might make them money is being able to sell to countries with little or no conventional banking, but those countries don't have any adoption and shipping and returns would be a nightmare.

Maybe a business reason. They may not be aware of bitcoin potential or may be afraid of the fluctuating nature of bitcoin price..Besides this I cannot think of any other reason.

Amazons sales funnel is extremely optimized and unfortunately adding Bitcoin will simply degrade the user experience for most customers. Giving more/too much choice leads to confusion and less customers coming through funnel.

The amount of Amazon customers that use bitcoin and would benefit is negligible to amount who don't.

Essentially we want places like Amazon and wikipedia to accept bitcoin because it provides free advertising for us at Amazons expense.

For me, amazon didn't use bitcoin for his payment because it has a relationship with many countries didn't use bitcoin become their currency or make bitcoin legality in their countries . it will become a serious problem because it has a relationship with regulation's government . so, amazon doesn't want to have a problem because that . finally,  amazon didn't accept bitcoin become one of their payments until now.

Also I believe Amazon themselves are payment processors. That being the case they're not going to be into farming out to Bitpay and friends. No shortage of gift card options which are good enough for me.

Cost of implementing BTC payments likely outweighs potential benefits.
Amazon has the lowest prices on most of the products, so they don't really need Bitcoin to attract new group of customers as these will use Amazon anyway, either paying fiat, using purse.io, or just buying Amazon gift cards with bitcoins.

Could be both but they already had their own so I guess they do not want to add yet but who knows with Bitcoin popularity, many of their clients will clamor for bitcoin to be added ..

I dont think so that this can be the reason. Amazon is most popular site and they can start transactions in bitcoins in larger interest of the public and also themselves. Maybe they are giving some more time to bitcoin and waiting for its price stability. Currently its price go UP and down so uncertainly and that might be the reason they are not using it now. One thing is sure that one day they will have to start using bitcoins seeing the interest of the general buyers and they cant ignore that.

Who cares?  I'm perfectly happy buying stuff on Amazon with fiat.  If I had bought something last week, I'd be kicking myself today because of the price spike.  And that about sums it up as to why bitcoin is a lousy currency.   Stop pretending it isn't.

May be Amazon think, that BTC user base is not large enough for them, they just wait and then implement Bitcoin as payment.  Wink

What do you think?

I think they resisting to use the bitcoin for payment because it has a bad image to government because other they use it in illegal there a chance that if they accept bitcoin in their payment option they can include in many case in darkweb. If the company can include in that case theres a chance that many of their costumer dont buy in their online shop so if i am the owner of that company i wouldnt accept bitcoin as a payment.

it would have been great if they just accept btc. with bitcoin logo on their pages, it will arise interest to the people. maybe they won't resist if they use altcoin such as ETH? Smiley it don't have a bad rep so far.

anyway, they could have earned a lot if they just used bitcoin now that its price spiked.

Maybe a business reason. They may not be aware of bitcoin potential or may be afraid of the fluctuating nature of bitcoin price..Besides this I cannot think of any other reason.
Usually when you are merchant or a store which accept bitcoin you don't stash your coins but you exchange it right away to FIAT. So fluctuating nature of Bitcoin has nothing to do with it.

Actually I think after Steam accepted BTC other big companies are just waiting to see how that move will affect Steam in the long run.

Is it a business reason? Or perhaps the complexity of bitcoin accounting creating potential issues?

What do you think?
1.No it is not the complexity of bitcoins, matter fact, bitcoins is much simpler than other amazon payment methods.
2.Yes business reason is correct, right now amazon support different electronic payment methods depending on the country you're from .For India,it supports Paytm and other few wallets I guess.
3.If they completely replace their payment structure, they might face a serious business loss as most of the people are convenient with paying by traditional methods.
4.Bitcoin could be added as an alternative payment method ,but hey, will the 3rd party service accept that payment ? Depends highly on that.Even if amazon accepts bitcoin payments, the sellers should accept it too!
