The main reason I think is that their sales operations is not affected by bitcoins. But if their competitors have used bitcoins and their sales grapj displays a going down line then that will be the time that they will consider using bitcoins as mode of payment.

I think the bitcoin is more anonymous than the cash. The reason that Amazon does not accept the bitcoin is that too few people use it.

I think it's because they have been providing a payment through PayPal for a long time (which is contrary to Bitcoin). Maybe PayPal threatened them to not provide Bitcoin as the payment or PayPal will leave, and seeing that the customers is mostly use PayPal then Amazon.com don't want to take the risk.

Is it a business reason? Or perhaps the complexity of bitcoin accounting creating potential issues?
What do you think?
They will obviously have their reasons which will be valid among which will include the rapid volatility of Bitcoin, as in the rate of change is unpredictable and this is bad for market as additional infrastructure will have to be put in place to effect the changes in volatility and this is additional cost to the firm. Another is the absence of regulation which is another major challenge to them. My opinion though...

Seems like you're not really updated, are you? Paypal has already announced it's intention of integrating bitcoin as one of the currencies/services offered by them. It means every business which are already doing with paypal, automatically going to embrace bitcoin. But direct acceptance by amazon would be a great leap. I could not guess what are hidden businesses under this.

they still have doubts on Bitcoin as payment due to the current bitcoin users is still very little compared to how payment which exists. it will indeed be a big problem for us but one day Amazon will receive BTC as a means of payment

I reckon it's either they don't trust the stability of bitcoin pricing(we all know it can be up and down sometimes) and don't want customers to have a bad experience because of it(imagine a product's price changing depending on when in the day you buy it) or they just don't think it's worth it right now. That second one is fair enough, it might not be worth the time and money investment for them.

It might be the same reason as the wow private server refuses to implement btc as a payment option, the price is juat going up and down too fast and significantly, ao it might just be that.

Need some spare btc for a new PC that can at least run Adobe Dreamweaver.

The reason that Amazon does not accept the bitcoin is that too few people use it. yes that was actually what i am saying that because of the anonymity that bitcoin provides it may be hard for amazon to identify but who knows if steam was able to accept bitcoin how much more for amazon lets just see for the near future.

The only way Amazon would accept BTC would be to exchange it to FIAT immediately, these big organisations are not interested in Bitcoin or other coins mass global adoption (yet), but as a form or redeemable payment, then quite possibly yes - but what it would take to persuade these guys, who knows. Oh, and Steam accepting BTC? They do not hold the coin but instead exchange it for FIAT as above. Maybe this is because of the volatile market so as a fear of losing funds, or maybe a deeper esoteric reasoning... #BankingSystem

it doesn't matter to us the users, what they are going to do with the bitcoin they receive as long as they receive it. they can even do it easily using the bitpay bitcoin payment system, they do the conversion themselves and receive bitcoin and give the merchant money equivalent of it.

if amazon.com really use bitcoin, then I think bitcoin prices will increase. Amazon is one of the big companies, and if that happens then the development of bitcoin in the world can be very fast.

It would only be a success for bitcoin IF and only if people would rather use bitcoins than fiat from doing transactions in amazon. But most of the business experts view this as a boost to bitcoin, but in progress it might be a milestone for Amazon too, who knows? Being a bitcoiner and strong believer of sutures of bitcoins, I too wish Amazon to adopt bitcoins.
