So, I'm having a little issue here. Setup:
Phenom II 965 8 GB Ram 2x 5870 @ 1040/300 pulling 435 at load Temps at 55-60 C for the cards Catalyst 11.4 SDK 2.1 poclbm
The issue is that my cards are not being consistently pegged. One will run at 100%, while the other hovers between 60 and 95%. I've got the machine set to sleep the display immediately, but still I see a significant drop in MHash/s. Any ideas? Do i just need dummy plugs and a crap dedi card?

Hmm, what settings do you use?
Also what program are you measuring utilization with? I prefer HWINFO since it gives more accurate Temp readings than many of the overclocking tools out there.
It could be that the second GPU is entering a power save state, you may want to disable ULPS which can be done via Sapphire Trixx.
Need more info.

Using MSI Afterburner to measure, but also just looking at my MHash. One will float around 435, while GPU 2 sits around 360-430, fluctuates with the load.

don't use crossfire. SLI is for video not GPGPU. i may be wrong but setting up separate threads for each GPU may be your best bet.

What Aggression level are you running at? Uhhh..... Whatever the default is. I haven't looked into changing it at all. What's the setting for my batch then? --AGGRESSION=x?

Also use the Phatk kernel instead of poclbm if you are using SDK 2.4
I am getting 423M/h with my 5870 at 970 MHz, If you have clocked yours to 1045 you should be getting 450M/h
What voltages are you using for that speed. I killed one of my cards when i pushed it to 1000Mhz?

First there was Fire, then Electricity, and now Bitcoins

Well, it turns out that my workload and -f were to blame.
new batch: poclbm0.exe -v -w256 -f 10
Catalyst 11.4 SDK 2.1 m0mchil's POCLBM Slush's pool 2 threads, 1040/300 @ 1.2V.
Card 1 runs at 99%, card 2 at 97% consistently. I get 458 on thread 1 and 445ish on thread 2.
Thanks for the input gents.

Which driver version has the sdk 2.1? And is that the best version to use?
I just can't seem to get > 420 on my cards, running 1GHZ on windows 7 64b using poclbm.
