10 Best Bitcoin Wallets For Secure Bitcoin Storage

http://www.hongkiat.com/blog/bitcoin-wallets/

Nice! Thank you for sharing!
I use a multibit (old one) but I am not happy with it Sad
Yeah multibit isn't one of my favourites either, I've had some issues with it in the past and I switched over to Electrum.
So I'd definitely recommend Electrum..

You can also use a paper wallet if you need to store Bitcoins for any long period, if you create it correctly, then it's very safe, and also not too hard to do.

Here's a tutorial on that, in case you'd want to experiment:
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Paper_wallet

And here's a list of all the major Bitcoin wallets from the Bitcoin wiki:
https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet

Edit (missed this post):
A lot of replies and a really responseful community , thank you for your ideas, after reading through here decided to go for Multibit HD , I heard is being bought from a hardware wallet company so they must make it even more secure and I like the fact that it hiddes a lot of things from me. Just installed it, but thinking also to switch to a safer OS but not ready for this step yet.
I wouldn't personally recommend Multibit, as stated above. I've had some issues with it, where I forgot to update and it messed up the wallet (or access to my wallet from Multibit). Never had that happen with Electrum.

Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

Thank you , for the moment I have a very small amount of bitcoins which I am safe in storing in Multibit HD, I learned it hides a lot of features from me by default and is newbie friendly as I am trying to play around with it. After a few days I will try another wallet , I am installing other wallets too after some days.

When I was a newbie here, I started with electrum wallet. As I read somewhere that the online wallets are not safe to store your Bitcoins and they can be easily hacked or the wallet provider could also run away with your Bitcoins. So due to this fear I started using electrum wallet from start.

For me in my newbie days i use coins.ph until now because it is more convenient to us filipino bitcoin users and its safety although im facing issue on our wallet provider now for blockibg my wallet because of little issue i can say its safety to use that wallet because it give us convenient way to cash out easily without hassle and we can buy load, steam items in our wallet as part of its feature, and thats good for us because theres no other wallet provider here in ph thats why majority of  filipinos using it.

yeah, generally any wallet that is not offline is not safe either. because you can be infected by a keylogger which you are not even aware of.
also as far as "running away" goes, it is restricted to those web wallets which have access to your private keys instead of you like coinbase.

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip.
Whales are those who keep buying the dip.

blockchain.info is not the safes wallet than other btc wallet, but for newbies who just started using bitcoin, blockchain is probably the best wallet, blockchain.info is very easy to use and understand and also safe enough. I've started my btc journey to blockchain wallet, for low amount of many blockchain is better.

For a newbie I think Blockchain.info is the best wallet. Because it gives easy access as well the possibilities of making mistakes is very low.

What do you people suggest for a safe wallet for a newbie, I am not that tech guy , just the average joe with computers.
I have read that Blockchain.info is one of the best wallets, but I have also read that there are a lot of other wallets that they call local wallets like Bitcoin core Multibit Electrum and Armory also phone wallets. Which is one you can sleep safe at night ?

based on my experience, I just use blockchain.info from the beginning until now. online wallet has possibility to be hacked, so is blockchain.info, so make sure you set 2 factor authenticator or code sending on your mobile phone or email.

I think that was the best blockchain.yes setting a 2 factor authenticator is the best to protect online wallets when hacker attemps to open your personal account. But the best to store bitcoins is a bitcoin hardware .

You can try one by one bitcoin wallet, so you can make a compare which the best wallets for you, but in my mind I can suggest you to choose bitcoin wallets have 2fa it's will make a more secure you wallet. So before this, I think you can make a compare from the bitcoin wallets. Let's try and you can get which bitcoin wallets you need.

As a newbie I would recommend you to still use the blockchain wallet because its maybe online its very safe due to the fact it has 2 way verification.
well but as far as i know there were occasions when the wallets were hacked and people lost bitcoins from them so i doubt that it would be a great decision to use it for newbie

i would definitely choose a multibit desktop wallet if i wanted to have a safe and easy to use wallet as it is a newbie friendly wallet and impossible to hack if you dont have viruses

Maybe I don't get something but how a wallet with 2FA could be hacked? I mean if to get access to your wallet you should decrypt a line with your PGP how exactly this wallet could be hacked?

Get Electrum. Very easy to setup. And relatively safe.

Don't use online exchanges. They may seem safe but you never when they will be "goxed" which can happen in any time.

If you want the safest wallet, then install the original in a clean pc.

I can suggest to your electrum with authentication trusted and safe than the other wallet.. but if you are just transacting low transaction you can use coinbase.. they are still legit as of now..

I can recommend three wallets. If you want an online wallet, you can opt for blockchain.info. If you want more secure wallets you can opt for desktop or offline wallet like Bitcoin Armory. While if you want a mobile or hardware wallet, then you can go with Keepkey.

You can check this website for more info: http://www.bitcoineverything.net/the-most-definitive-post-on-bitcoin-wallets/

I prefer and suggest online wallets like blockchain, holytransaction and sometimes I would say use exchanges like poloniex. Actually with offline wallets it takes a lot of time to understand them and if you by mistake reboot pc without saving important files then your money is gone.

The best option is to always have personal possession of your bitcoin private keys. Don't trust an online or desktop wallet, get started right by using a hardware wallet and you will never have to worry about having your bitcoin stolen by hackers or malware. Trezor is the standard with the best user manual by far at $99. If you are on a budget the Ledger HW.1 is only $17. Either would serve you well.

from first untill now i still using blockchain.info as my wallet, although saving on online wallet is not safety , but using 2FA on every wallet that we use,at least can reduce risk to lose our money. just don't forget to set 2FA on every account that we have

Xapo is a good wallet too, so is Circle, but I've heard bad reviews of the app on Android.
