i use blockchain since i was a newbie  and a local wallet for cashing out.  blockchain  also have a mobile application. so far it is good fast and secure for me.
yes for some users who are pro-bitcoin is still using blockchain. besides easy to use with a simple display, the application on blockchain was fairly safe. and when the log on the website we can find a computer's IP last. so as to minimize the risk of hacker attacks.

I can recommend some Bitcoin wallets I have used based on my experience if you wish. I am currently using GreenAddress online wallet and it gets the job done perfectly. I think it will suit the needs of a newcomer better than the official Blockchain wallet because it's very easy to use, the user interface is not cluttered and very intuitive and people can log in with a PIN which is a very big plus when you are in a hurry and on the go. For mobile devices I have used Mycelium and Copay which are both very solid wallets with a good track record. Also I have heard that Bread wallet is a very good choice for the Apple platform but I don't own an iPhone so I haven't tested it myself. For the desktop I have recently tried the Electrum wallet which is a pretty popular software Bitcoin wallet and you can't go wrong with it. I think you should test a couple of wallets and settle on the one that best fits your needs  Wink

I recommend to use blockchain.info, it's simple and easy to use.
A lot of people I know use it and they recommend it to me. I use it from the beginning until now. Smiley

In my another perspective, the best wallets are online bitcoin and altcoin exchange websites. I have used sites like btc-e for keeping my BTC , though they charge a fee of 0.001 on each transaction, but at least I am safe Smiley

For a newbie I think Blockchain.info is the best wallet. Because it gives easy access as well the possibilities of making mistakes is very low.
Lol lol I think not only blockchain that makes it easy for the novice user. because I see all wallets have ease and comfort. they have a distinct advantage. I think all the online wallet is suitable for a newbie. This only advice

just the disadvantages of using blockchain.info are their support was very slow when the clients are contacting them and awaiting for the answer, and also sometimes error happening even it's quite rare,i would prefer a desktop wallet which is easy to use

I am reading the forum daily and am registered here a few days ago.
What do you people suggest for a safe wallet for a newbie, I am not that tech guy , just the average joe with computers.
I have read that Blockchain.info is one of the best wallets, but I have also read that there are a lot of other wallets that they call local wallets like Bitcoin core Multibit Electrum and Armory also phone wallets. Which is one you can sleep safe at night ?

Try using Xapo wallet, its very easy to use and many faucet and apps are affiliated with this wallet, Try faucet apps in xapo its better than the regular faucet site

This is a trust based way to store bitcoin, 2fa is neat and all but it's better to store bitcoin in ways that aren't as reliant to a website's uptime and trust.

When I was a newbie to bitcoin, I joined xapo and started to use it for all of my transactions, and from there i continued to learn more about wallets, If you like you can start with xapo, it is not bad.

I will say best and safe wallet for any newbie can be blockchain.info.It is secure and give access to its owner form everywhere.I stated with blockvhain.info and if I remember well first whole year I was using this alone to keep my funds in Bitcoin.Later I had windows wallet which I encrypted with good password. Now there is huge range of wallets to choose from.

I am sorry but I have to disagree with many of you suggesting bitcoin wallet blockchain.info , I am reading daily through this forum and I have seen it looks like it has a lot of problems, people don't getting authentication codes or email codes etc. For the moment based on what I read in this forum I am staying with Multibit HD and after some time going to try electrum but as of now , Multibit HD is sufficient for me.

blockchain.info is one of the oldest bitcoin wallet, but now it is not secure enough. I saw some peoples was complained that they lost their money on blockchain.info. and blockchain has a new wallet now which is more worst then old one..
for a newbie safest wallet is electrum and multibit of course, but use all security methods to secure your wallet, add password for sure.

true, that Blockhain be a wallet which is quite recommended by those new to using BTC, because Blockhain has a look that is simple and easy to operate. Blockchain also has very strict security system.

Actually if you can save the .dat file in your pc and take care of the wallet and its needs then I will suggest multibit, its light version and at the same time quite effective, though I also like others suggest online wallets.
