Thanks for input.I thought as much myself. However does anyone think that it might be a good idea to just sell off each wallet.dat file using escrow in places like openbazaar or bitrated. Does anyone know where I can maybe do this besides those two places. Or does anyone know any other online multi wallet provider where I can import my dat file or my private key.
Thanks for input
selling your wallet.dat might be possible, the only problem would be trust and it could be a big hassle...
The fact is that when selling a wallet.dat, you're basically selling private keys. This means that both you and your buyer have access to all private keys, and in case of a dispute, the escrow will need to manually verify the wallet.dat by installing the client, syncing the blockchain,.... As long as the wallet isn't emptied out, outputs can be generated by all parties involved (buyer, seller and escrow).
It's a lot cleaner and easyer for all parties if you install the wallet software, send the coins to the buyer and then destroy the wallet.dat as soon as it's empty (or hold on to it, you should in fact never destroy a private key). In case of a dispute, you can just send the transaction id to the escrow, and he can use an online block explorer to verify if the output was correctly generated and release the funds directly...
I'm not saying selling a wallet.dat would be impossible, i just think it adds an extra layer of complexity to the whole deal, and might actually make interested buyers turn away... It's just my personal gut feeling tough... Maybe i'm overlooking something.
