Is it possible that Bitcoin can be deposited in the banks in the near future? I mean like any other currencies that can be deposited and withdraw in the banks.

It is now happening in our country! We have an online bitcoin wallet that is affliated with various banks.
We can also pay bills using our wallet.
Transaction fee is actually low to none. The best wallet in my opinion.

Does it pay interest?
If not, I will feel safer with my coins in cold storage.
You are just taking a big risk for the sake of convenience.

No you don't pay interest. Actually, they give you a rebate for every bills you pay and top up you make!
But of course, using cold storage is still the safest. I must agree to that.

Really? there are banks that are affiliated with bitcoin in your country? from what country you are from? does they provide an ATM card for your bitcoin? i hope the same will happen in our country because i think our bitcoin will be safer if affiliated with banks Cheesy

Nope i dont think so if you are referring to pure bitcoin inside a bank thats the purpose of your wallet and if the price of bitcoin suddenly drops bankruptcy would come for that bank

Wrong, banks will not go bankrupt from any currency used. Because the Bank is the main place in the exercise of all existing financial governance. So if the price drop then the bitcoin bankrupt and loss are people using Bitcoin, not Banks

Scenario O you mean is less clear. Because in the system used by banks, they prefer the profit and success of their banks rather than things that can destroy their company. So banks will never go bankrupt although he tools rely on is no longer useful

Bitcoin is independent and thats the way it was created. So, why put on bank?  What would be the purpose of all existing bitcoin wallets out there? So, youre thinking it would possible to put a bitcoin on bank, i would say its impossible to happen.

I've actually been thinking that if i collect a bit more coins, it might become a good idear to store my paper wallets in a safe deposit box at the local bank. This way, i am safe from home invaders. If somebody breaks into my house in the middle of the night, and asks for my private keys, i can honestly tell them they're at the bank.
I don't feel the need to be honest to home invaders.
Good luck finding a random house that owns Bitcoins! And even if you do own them, you can have as many different wallets as you want. Nobody can ever tell how many you own, unless you put them in one location, for instance a safe deposit box.

To answer the question that started this topic: if you call an exchange a bank, you can already deposit your bitcoins to that bank. It depends on what you call a bank: here all banks have government guarantees in case they go bankrupt. An exchange doesn't have any guarantees, if they go Mt.Gox, your bitcoins are gone.

If you want a bank to do what banks do with bitcoin, that means they'll lend out much more bitcoins than they own. Say 1000 people each put 1BTC in their account, then the bank can easily give 1000 people a 10BTC loan! As long as people don't withdraw the 10BTC but leave it in their own account. Sounds weird? How many people withdraw their mortgage money in cash?

I think you are talking about spectrocoin.com (a bitcoin wallet which give the feature to transfer bitcoin to bank account) let me tell you this is not what you are saying. spectrocoin (if that is this) just allow you to cashout your bitcoin via bank transfer. this is not like storing bitcoin to a bank account. it is simply exchange your bitcoin to fiat money and send them to your bank account.
so far there is no any bank account which is supporting bitcoin and actually storing bitcoin.

It is very possible that you can deposit your bitcoin in the bank.  Actually you can even deposit it in the bank but not as a currency but in another category.  Like if you have a paperwallet that have Bitcoin deposited on it, and depositting that paper wallet in the bank.  Or you have a bitcoin coins, and want it to be depositted at the bank.

Many representatives of the banks consider this threat cryptocurrency entire banking ecosystem, but there are those who are strong enough interest is the use of Bitcoin in the financial sector.
For example UBS.-
Swiss bank late last year announced that it plans to open a special laboratory for the analysis of the use of block chains in its activities. The bank will hire researchers who will be working on issues cryptocurrency use in the financial sector.

It shouldn't and won't be happening, because Bitcoin doesn't supposed to be controlled by a Bank. Bank = Fee, because from where the bank will be able to profit other than the fees.
And anyway, what's the purpose of saving it in a Bank? For keeping it safe?

that's right people will feel loss indeed because their funds are in form of bitcoin but it would affect the bank for the fees, even though bank is really opposite with bitcoin's decentralized feature

I will save some bitcoin with banks if they offer me interests. And my bitcoin can also be lent to people who need it.

Yup, all the things that you say is so true. If that happens then the cost we will increase the time gambling, and I think the bank will start to do something that could make the price of the bitcoin can they play. This is not a good thing to do and is not good for the continuity of bitcoin. Better bank wearing a currency that now and the lone bitcoin

Why would anyone want to keep his coins in bank when one can keep them in offline wallet with him?
There is a government regulation that prevnts keeping large amount of money at home else I would have preferred to keep fiat with me also

Why should I do that? As far As I know bank is the one who accept bitcoins.   And I don't see any reason for me to deposit my bitcoin in the bank, Why does bitcoin called decentralization? if I'm gonna deposit I think private key is no longer be useful. Aside from that Bitcoin is Better than a Banks.
