More than 200.000 CHESS is mined by an unknown man that own a good hashrate machine and help us finish POW phase (4096 bloks) of ChessCoin. That man paid a  lot of energy for mining that amount of coins. He deserves to have them!

There is guy on yobit who wants to sell his bitcoin for 20 each: xxxxxxxxxxx L1: i bought 15.000.000 chess with 1 btc and sold 5.000.000 for 1 btc, now i have 10.000.000 ,for fun Smiley

So the price will stay low for a very long time I suppose. but I wonder how he got so many, if its true what he says.

Edit: xxxxxxxxxx L1: i sold 5.000.000 chess and have more 2 btc, now i only sell for funs, lose it - chess, the scams

What is this about?

So this guy tells me he is from Vietnam and the site of chesscoin is from Vietnam, any explenation from the developers why he wants to, as he says, crash the coin?

Dear All of ChessCoin Investors and Suporter,

The things I tell you below perhaps would make you sad.

I really don't expect some things like this to happen. Please understand me after you read all. I will do everything not to make all people who has already joined ChessCoin ICO get disadvantages and also will do everything not to let your every step in supporting ChessCoin become meaningless.

I decide to cancel ICO and refund to all investors.

There are many reasons for this decision. The man who promised to help me in building Android ChessCoin APP could not build up anything within many weeks as he said he could do that in two weeks. ChessCoin trading in Yobit is out of my control due to a big volume of ChessCoin in circulation that I delivered to someone helping me in the development of ChessCoin. ChessCoin price now is much lower than ICO price then we could not receive any more investment.

The first purpose of ICO is to collect enough funds for long term development of ChessCoin. I spent too much time, energy and money for this project. If the ICO continue the usual way I will have 25% of ICO funds, and 2 millions ChessCoin left in the end. This doesn't even balance what I myself invested.

There's no one getting harm due to my decision. All investors will be refunded besides they will receive 1 ChessCoin more for 1 BellaCoin they has invested. So they not only don't lose their fund but also receive valuable ChessCoins. All Bounties (3000000 ChessCoin) will be delivered as schedule.

I receive nothing however will hold a major volume of ChessCoin to control the development of ChessCoin Project as I wished from the beginning.

There are 24 investors in Bela and 1 investors in BTC.

The one who invested in BTC I will directly refund him.

The ones who invested in Bela, I could not refund them directly and I need the help from Escrower.

I'm sorry for that inconvenience.

Thank you.

This is a seemingly sad story...
The network works very well and we can keep ChessCoin running until day zero or we take what we find and make something out of it!
For testing Blockchain is ChessCoin more than good  Wink

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

Yes, when you send them from an exchange.   You have to download the blockchain first.

which anti virus software is that?

keep also in mind:

* the windows version was compiled some time ago

* best is always to compile it yourself (also, because you know then what was compiled, e.g. running a version from a stranger might bring you surprises :-( )

about:

> You are exactly the right one who can build us a new wallet...

I'm copy+pasting from github (links which are here not working will be visible there):

* https://github.com/chess-fan/thoughts

I can do that, yes (or also others). The source is free, and can be forked anytime... As a matter of fact, I have forked it now here

* main reason for now: to have the commit comments and with that also: a backup, so the source doesn't disappear

The more important thing would be to "convince" then the majority to USE a possible "new version": e.g. exchanges, ...

And that moment would - short term at least - not be to the benefit of the coin (price goes South... or worse, e.g. coin gets delisted on the exchange(s)) e.g. exchanges would ask:

* why does the original dev not do this? did he leave?
* can we trust the new wallet and the new dev(s)?
* ...

But let's not forget... first the current dev needs to be contacted about his plans (why he did not update yet; his ongoing plans with ChessCoin; ...) before starting something that brings only negative thoughts, frustration into this all - this is surely not what we all need or want!

Thanks for the background story of the 64%.

The 2nd entry in my blog is dedicated to the checkpoint:

Please see the bug report for an overview:
* no uptodate checkpoint: https://github.com/COINFORCHESS/ChessCoin/issues/1

Why is it good to have a checkpoint ?
* at least until the checkpoint time the blockchain can not be manipulated anymore
* the syncing speed for new users will be better
  * since their clients with a newer checkpoint will decline clients which are on a fork

read more also in the new project I created:

Hey, that's good news in the early morning  Wink

The checkpoint is important for building a bootstrap.dat?
If I build a bootstrap.dat for ChessCoin then end this ~ Sep. 2016 and then the blockchain must be downloaded...
So far every month I'm saving all blockchain for security and for new users...
Do we need a new wallet for Win, iOS and Linux?

Best regards

Wishing you and everybody else in the community a relaxing Sunday :-)

> The checkpoint is important for building a bootstrap.dat?

No, the checkpoint hash is set in the wallet software and your wallet checks then at that certain block the checkpoint hash.
Example: let's say block #800000 has the checkpoint hash ABCHASH and we hardcoded that in the wallet software, and we are at block #850000 already.

If your wallet doesn't get this ABCHASH for that 800k block from a peer it will ignore/blacklist this peer normally, because this peer is not on the officially accepted "chain".
You can say that setting a checkpoint hash is a centralistic measure, but as explained above it prevents manipulation attempts.
The checkpoint can of course not prevent future forks, but at least for new users - while syncing - it makes sure they do not land on a fork.

Normally also other coins set up checkpoints regularly

Thanks for your work!

I also used your bootstrap files to save time, but:
when we are strict, this is bad since we need to trust the person who provides those files.
There are cases - when they are planned beforehand - where people can manipulate the existing blockchain :-(

But with the blockhashes project (1) such attempts are now seeable easily
Of course I can't speak if we were already attacked or not, for that I need more analysis time...

> Do we need a new wallet for Win, iOS and Linux?

It depends:
* e.g. you saw above (2) the virus message? One would need to investigate more why this happens and either fix or contact the virus company and explain why it is not a virus and they should remove the "warning" from their database
* also I don't know how the dependencies of the Windows binaries are out there on newer Windows systems, since the ChessCoin binaries are old. We'd need to make a test of the binaries on all windows platforms
* for integrating the checkpoint (3), we would need a new wallet, yes

I compiled my wallet myself on linux, since I don't trust binaries which others compiled. I am paranoid :-)

The 2nd entry in my blog is dedicated to the checkpoint:

Please see the bug report for an overview:
* no uptodate checkpoint: https://github.com/COINFORCHESS/ChessCoin/issues/1

Why is it good to have a checkpoint ?
* at least until the checkpoint time the blockchain can not be manipulated anymore
* the syncing speed for new users will be better
  * since their clients with a newer checkpoint will decline clients which are on a fork

I am running and staking my chesscoin walllet downloaded a week ago if there are some weakness on it I don't know there are 4 to 6 active connections and I'm earning a good amount from staking but it will be good if you can create a new version of the wallet since the dev is using the old one i can donate 2000 chesscoin and the other could follow

I don't have any chesscoin at all but I'm a chess player as well as a chairman of a local chess club here in my community. I knew what a player needs. FIDE Arena is too expensive to play. Chess.com will not give you title and no tournament with prizes. Both sites don't have any crypto integration in their sites. Chesscoin is an opportunity to make a global chess association of online players. Perhaps could even give world championship through income of chesscoin.

Thanks for your feedback :-)

I have actually experienced the same, currently max. 6 peers

here is the task I created:
* how many peers do users get in the wallet? https://github.com/chess-fan/MCT/issues/5

about "new version":
* as stated in the roadmap draft (1): "this is what I am currently doing:
analyzing the ChessCoin project: the software, the community and other aspects"

but I also do not want o shit on someone's project, that's why we need to identify what the current dev intends to do from here on (2).

(1) https://github.com/chess-fan/MCT/issues/6
(2) see my blog: "But let's not forget... first the current dev (aka: Isolani159) needs to be contacted about his plans (why he did not update yet; his ongoing plans with ChessCoin; ...) before starting something that brings only negative thoughts, frustration into this all - this is surely not what we all need or want!" https://github.com/chess-fan/thoughts
