I dont think we actually even have enough geeks left to bring into bitcoin, were at that time now where we need to be bringing in more mainstream people to the bitcoin world, and what this means is were probably going to have to get a much more simplified wallet, one that you cant really go wrong with. As soon as someone trys bitcoin and they lose a loads of money it pretty much ends their experience with btc.

When Bitcoins first started, it was seen as a form of geeky adventure. Nerds and geeks were viewed by non-IT people with different lens. But perhaps those nerds and geeks who started mining for fun half a decade ago and hoarded thousands of bitcoins are now the new millionaires.

Who's laughing now? Perhaps the overweight geeks hiding in the basements with thousands of bitcoins will be overwhelmed by hot chicks in this time and age
They may be now millionaire if they haven't sold all of their bitcoin when price goto 100$ or so and the ones who have bought those cheap must be elite traders and holding all of those strongly till now are new millionaires.  Grin

I am afraid that for anyone who joined bitcoin hype train after MtGox collapse and that historical ATH in 2013/14 is not 'early adopter' anymore.

I don't buy that at all. When entire countries have one Bitcoin ATM I think that tells you how early in the game this still is. I'm not convinced we're even in the early adopter phase yet if you consider where it might eventually end up.

As for whether our original big swinging dicks are around, there were so many scams, hardware failures and other disasters in the early days that I'm sure more than a few were wiped out. The ones who came along post 2011/12 with deep pockets probably did a far better job of managing what they obtained.

All going well hopefully everyone using bitcoin now can be classed as really adopter but it seems unrealistic now to expect bitcoin to rise up to 100k or even 10k. Probably the only millionaires will be those few left with 100s or even 1000s of coins.

If the bitcoin has a bright future, the price can reach $100k without any problem. It will just take some time to reach that.

You need to remember that most people see no need for bitcoin,  these people are happy using paypal and banks,  it's going to take some time for people to want a reason to buy into bitcoin.  The only way i can see that happen for people who are not too tech savy is if they realise that it can be a good store of value,  after  buying some they can then also use it to buy a few things after they make a profit.

Dream the impossible. For all that holds the bitcoin while his appearance would have been selling some or most of the coins. Because the first time, performing mining bitcoin is easy and free. And he can get a few tens of thousands in a single performing mining. It is possible that they now only holds less than 1000 BTC

This will have to change at some point. Almost daily I see 'bank X investment scandal, tricked customers on purpose'-style titles. All that is needed is to present bitcoin as an actually working alternative at the right time(once/if scaling gets fixed).

But how do we know whether all the early adopters were geeks or not? I mean there could have been people who were interested in the general concept of Bitcoin and decided to buy a bunch of coins when they costed mere pennies. I am not convinced that all the early adopters were miners. I know people who are not IT specialists by trade but still they have a thing about investing in things and Bitcoin after all is still a commodity so it's not like only geeks knew about that and found the holy grail. Also that generalization for geeks being overweight and living in their moms' basements is so last year  Grin

Nope.  Geeks are not the new millionaires.  Sorry.

Everyone wants to work on the computer these days.
If you are a geek now, you are late to the party.
Every dork and his grandma are trying to be web
developers.

You know who makes good money now?  Plumbers
and electricians.  Skilled labor.  etc.   They are making
big bucks because they have rare skills.

Plumbers and sparkies have always made good money here after they finish their apprenticeship.
I don't know how much schooling a pharmacist has to go through but you would think that they would earn a pretty good wage well not so here in Australia, apparently there is a massive over supply of them.

The world's richest person, Bill Gates is supposed to be a geek, and if that label are being applied to people with knowledge, I would gladly wear that label and earn that kind of money, if that is what a geek is supposed to look like. We throw labels around without even thinking and we hurt other people's feelings. ^hmmmm^

Haha. Come on. I hope i did not hurt your feelings. If you are loaded, who cares about how others label you? Smiley

It depends on which part of the world you are from. In Asian societies, plumbers, electricians and mechaniacs and skilled workers are considered low end blue collar jobs and they are paid very lowly, compared to engineers. Being an electrician or plumber infers the person has low educational qualifications, and Asian societies correlate educational qualifications with payscale.

But in western societies that I have been to, plumbers, electricians, and mechanics are well paying jobs whose salary scale surpasses engineers and white collar roles.

in America 25 years ago it was considered blue collar and didnt pay that well.  Today is different.

Programmers and coders were one of the lowest form of IT jobs apart from from tech support in some societies I have been to more than a decade ago.

Now programmers and coders in those same societies are highly sought after. The world has changed.

You need not be a geek to become millionaire with bitcoin IMHO.

I know a guy who have minimum 100 BTC right now in his cold storage. But he bought coins in 2013 and when the price hit $1.2k. I urged him to sell off his coins when the price was ~$800 to buy back at lower prices. But he refused to sell at those prices levels and when the price fell at 2013 and early 2014 he again bought more coins to average his buying prices.

Now I do not know how much coins he has, but I am sure he must have become millionaire for the faith he has on bitcoin.

well, that's true.
it has always been like this when you adopt a new technology which is also good and have a lot of potential you can gain a lot of profit by just being early.
this is not only restricted to bitcoin but also true about any other good investment opportunity, we have all seen google, apple, and a lot other companies that started very small and simple and in no time they grew to be the most valuable assets in the world.
and I believe that bitcoin is just like that and despite all these rises it is still so cheap and will grow up to be one of the biggest investments of out time.

Im actually surprised that at this point in time wall street havent stepped in and taken over the whole bitcoin game, These guys have got as lot of money to throw and things like this but maybe the problem is that they just dont know how to work it properly, Im sure price stability has nothing to do with it because wall street is a big gamble. maybe this is one of the things we will see happen in the close future.
