So i want to start my collection of physical bitcoins but as there are so many to choose from now i want some offers and comments on what you think would be a good coin to start off with.

My budget is only small, between 0.1BTC to 0.4BTC so let me know what you think i could get for that, in the end it is just going to come down to what i like the look of best.

Loaded, i would say lealanas are nice and right now carry a low premium at the moment.  Unloaded it depends on what you are looking for, DIY vs. Assembled, metal types, etc.

I have quite a few "cheap" coins and some of them look really good. Here are some of the coins/items I would recommend getting with some more expensive ones mixed in:

Crypto Poker Chip - Bitcoin : Website : (Around $2.50)
Serpcoin - DIY2 : Thread / Website : ($7)
NastyPool Fine Silver Collector's Rounds - 2013 : Thread : 0.01BTC
NastyPool Fine Silver Collector's Rounds - 2014 : Thread : 0.01BTC
Lealana - 1oz Brass 0.1 BTC : Website : 0.015BTC
Denarium - Gold plated 1/10 (empty) : Thread / Website : (€18.59)
Denarium - Gold plated 1/100 (empty) : Thread / Website :   (€18.59)
BTC Trinkets - One Bitcoin Challenge Coin : Website : ($24.99)
BTC Trinkets - Five Bitcoin Challenge Coin : Website : ($24.99)
Antana - Static Coin : Website : 0.04BTC, but prices are pretty old. Maybe contact the owner?
Ometeotl : Thread : ($35) for one
Luckyb.it - Rose Gold : Thread : 0.065BTC
Silver Wallets : Thread / Website : ($60) or ($99), depends on design
Lealana - 1oz Silver 0.1 BTC : Website : 0.1BTC
Genesis Series 2 : Thread : ($80) for a five pack
Sol Noctis : Website : (€79.90) on TopWorldCoins
Lealana - 1oz Silver 0.25 BTC : Website : 0.14BTC
NastyFans Minted Seats - 1oz .999 Silver : Thread : ($115)
Lealana - 1oz Silver 0.5 BTC : Website : 0.18BTC
Lealana - 1oz Gold-plated Silver 1 BTC : Website : 0.21BTC
NastyFans Minted Seats - 2oz .999 Silver : Thread : ($190)
Kialara Original : Thread / Website : Aftermarket only, currently selling for around $150 or so

I recommended PaperSafe as well, but I don't know if BG4 still sells these / has stock.

Thanks guys its getting late here so i will check all replies tomorrow.

My number one pick would be a Kialara because to me they are a work of art but a little out of my price range just now. Maybe I will buy myself one as a end of tax year present soon.  Smiley

Edit: Thanks Mitchell some nice offers there but yoh may have me at the kialara, any pics of just that one i can see?

Logging off now so will reply to any questions or offers tomorrow.

Officially, I have to suggest any of our Bitcoin Penny™ products. Unofficially, I love those Silver Wallets. Wink

You can also look into buying a 0.1BTC brass lealana.
You can buy them for around 0.02BTC

They look great.

Thanks to all that replied with some great links, and also damn you lot because you have made my job a lot harder deciding now, they all look good  Cheesy

Depending on how much btc i am left with next week i have decided i will buy a Kialara or Nasty Fans coin for my first.
A Casascius will be coin number 2 or 3 i will have to buy as it look like your not really part of the physical bitcoin "club" until you own one of these babies  Wink

I would really love to get my hands on a 2015 Kialara - Labyrinth so if anyone has one for sale post your price and if affordable to me we will talk further.

I would go for the Silver Wallets that Mitchełł is selling, then go with the Ravenbit coins the digicoinuser is selling. Both are good coins to start with and if you still have enough funds left ask for the lealana's of defcon23. I just started collecting physical coins late 2015 and once you started, you cant stop staring at it.

I do like the Silver Wallets and will add one of them to my collection down the track once i get started.
Lealana's are very nice too.

I am not yet sold on the Ravenbit coins but have not looked into them much yet, do they come funded?

Ravenbits are DIY only and they were quite cheap back in the day. The owner sadly stopped selling them so you'll have to get it from the after-market. Luckily, the markup isn't that high.

If you want to get a nice looking Casascius, you should try to get the Casascius St. Petersburg Bowl (pictures by me). It looks pretty good and I think it doesn't have a huge markup, but I'm not certain. You could also go for a blank/redeemed Casascius coin which are a lot cheaper. Grin

I don't think so, I checked the thread of digicoinuser and I did not find any information about it being funded. I got mine from an auction of IBGigglin and its a copper DIY coin. It's a neat looking coin that comes with a pouch. The Bitcoin penny looks great as well for starters. I'll be getting in touch with BitcoinPenny to get at least 2 coins.

Ravenbits are DIY only...

I believe they also made "Buyer Funded" coins, which could be considered a different type of DIY coin.

For what it's worth, when I think "DIY," I picture a blank-sided coin (with or without a recessed private key area) with a separate holographic sticker. The owner must print his own private key, affix the private key to the blank-side of the coin, then cover the private key with the holo sticker. When I think "Buyer Funded," I picture a complete coin with the holo sticker already attached, and a private key already secured under the holo sticker. The coin comes ready to fund by the buyer; no assembly required.

I believe Ravenbit coins came in both DIY and Buyer Funded varieties, but I could be wrong. I often am. Wink

Chris

They did... all of the Node Bronze and Node Brass "A" were all pre-assembled and "buyer funded"
You could say that all "Colored Nodes" (including gray) were "buyer funded"
All the rest of were "DIY" to my knowledge..... Cheesy

Thanks

Is the color of the private key really that important? Does a red slip of paper boost the value of the coin up? If so, by how much?

looking for a signature campaign, dm me for that

bitkilo, do you really need to ask? Of course I have pictures. Grin

2014 Kialara Original
2015 Kialara - Labyrinth
2015 Kialara 1BTC Silver
2015 Kialara 1BTC Gold
2015 Kialara - Signature Series - Current by Julia Tourianski

I sadly don't have the "2015 Kialara - Signature Series - Excavatorelevator"-set yet, so no pictures of those, but you can find some with a simple Google search. Wink

I just sold an excavator elevator set #27. Pretty cool collection of fine art. Smiley
