Since the server switch, I've gotten several reports from Gmail users that the forum's email is being identified as spam. Does this happen to all Gmail users? Is there any diagnostic info you can get to see why the forum's email is detected as spam? I would have expected email to look less spammy after the server switch because the reverse DNS is now correct. Also, who receives emails with this repeated twice at the bottom? You are receiving this message because you are a member of the Bitcoin Forum. If you do not want to receive further messages, you can change your notification preferences here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;sa=notification https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;sa=pmprefs
If you have forgotten your password, you can reset it here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=reminder

It all got marked as spam for me, which is why I've missed so many PMs. Yesterday I setup a filter so that this can't happen anymore for me, but it's a pain that other people are less responsive now. The real question is how did you test report get flagged by my filters a being a spam report (and thus sent directly to my inbox and causing a notification on my phone)?..

Yes, GMail was blocking the reports here when I forwarded my mail there.

I'm on PIA's vpn and sometimes get the Google spam captcha. It seems to depend being on two or three different IP blocks. bitcointalk.org is hosted by PIA so Google is probably marking mail connecting from some of PIA's IP blocks as spam.

Hmm, PIA probably had something to do with this. Bitcointalk emails still come to my inbox (not spam filtered). If this problem affects a lot of users it might be worthwhile to pay for Amazon SES or a similar service.

Now that you mention it, I haven't been getting anything in my inbox either.

Will the forum's non-spam reputation increase over time, you think? I'm on PIA's vpn and sometimes get the Google spam captcha. That's possible. We're hosted by nforce.nl. PIA has many servers there, though nforce.nl also has other customers.

I did as well, theymos, started happening a couple weeks ago. I marked them clearly as NOT spam and have not had any problems since. I'll put this thread on notify/subscribe to see if it is now working, but I think the issue has been resolved. I didn't actually notice it right away because I have the messages from that gmail account forwarded to my main gmail account.

20% of them get sent to spam on my gmail, but that's mostly because of the thread titles and because I have subscriptions enabled for new topics on the Newbies and Portuguese forums, so I receive at least 100 messages/day.
1- Does the server use exim2 to send emails? Check in /etc if you have an exim.conf to be sure 2- Are spf and dkim correctly configured on the DNS zone files?
If the answer to 1 is yes I might be able to help you with the mail server config if you wish. If the answer to 2 is no, or "I don't know" I can also help.
In alternative, if you don't wish to mess with the server, maybe you can configure SMF to use SMTP to send the emails. That will solve a lot of configuration problems. Well, it won't really solve them, just bypass lol

2- Are spf and dkim correctly configured on the DNS zone files?
No SPF Record for this domain according to http://www.dmarcian.com/spf-survey/bitcointalk.orgSo the answer to this is no for SPF at least. I would also highly recommend setting up a dmarc record.

Gmail recently started sending forum email to spam before I whitelisted the domain.

There's been an SPF record for a while now. Did that help at all? Can someone post the anti-spam headers that Gmail adds to forum email?
