I really like the fact that the bitcoins are freshly mined but that doesn't justify a $3,300 premium at all.

Rarity is a factor but that's just a small piece of the puzzle. I could make a paper wallet made out of cardboard and call it a rare collectible piece. I doubt anyone would pay a high premium for that.

The premium on collectibles usually are created by grading them and after they have been sold out. Casascius wasn't asking high premiums on his coins, that all came later when the coins were sold out or started to be redeemed.

If it were really made of pure gold, then it would be forever stuck in your country, as it won't be feasible for you to move it across any national borders.  Remember that border crossing require the declaration of all money, and that includes all precious metals like gold and silver.  Who would do that?

Whereas now, you're freely able to bring the Titanium Bitcoin Block anywhere you want to go.  Just keep it safe.

thanks,
Bobby

Bobby,
For such a high valued item I would pick it up in person and I'd gladly declare the gold when bringing it back, but that's just me.  Wink

You're not buying the Titanium.  You're buying the Bitcoin.
(Think of the Titanium as just the container for your precious Bitcoin.)

This Bitcoin Block comes in a very nice solid redwood box.  Are you saying that the redwood material has to be desirable enough to justify the multi-bitcoin premium?

thanks,
Bobby

I understand the Titanium is just a container, similar to how copper and brass are common "containers" on other coinage.  It would have been nice to see it in Silver or at the very least Titanium with Gold Highlights.

I don't think the packaging should affect the price since I'm not buying it for the packaging, so I would say no.  I like the design of the bar/coin, just not the price.

What's the big issue with selling an unfunded/buyer funded coin?

$10 worth of titanium for only a 5 BTC markup! Where do I sign up?

That's like asking, is the $10 worth of acrylic case for a "5 oz gold" coin worth the "2 oz of gold" in markup price?

Have you seen the larger 5 oz gold coins, or the 1 Kg gold pieces?  How much are they marked up?   Smiley
For reference, 1 oz gold coins sell for 5% to 10% markup from the spot price of gold, and larger pieces sell for a much higher markup, and come in much smaller mintage numbers.

Do they set the price based on the price of gold?  The raw manufacturing costs?  the price of the acrylic case and the wooden box?

Maybe you're not quite the collector of high end collectibles?  Huh

thanks,
Bobby

It's evident BTCC is here to make money out of this. Then it's up to collectors to buy into it or not.
I do agree 5BTC premium on the last product and even 1BTC on the 5BTC coin is out of order.

Bobby Lee please consider what you guys are doing and if you want to make a lot of money going forward or just a little from few rich collectors.

By the way, this is exactly for rich collectors.  Anyone rich enough to own 25+ bitcoins holding it for the long term, is in the market to buy one of these Bitcoin Blocks.

For everyone else, they should go shop for the One Bitcoin (or the Five Bitcoin).

And one more thing:  collectors always want rarity and low issuance.  If this really doesn't sell more than just a few, then there you have it, the ultimate collectible, so rare and with so few in existence.  Such that more cannot be made.

thanks,
Bobby

One thing I know is rich people don't like to waste their money, yes they may have 25BTC or more but then why lose 5 BTC out of their 25 to buy this block?
Is this block going to go up in value like Casascius coins? it all depends on how collectors value your coins.
You guys have only just started minting coins, wouldn't it be better to start slow, grab as many sales as you can on less expensive items and then do some special editions which cost more?

The way I feel about this is, too many coins, too fast and too high denominations. But that is me. Of course others may think differently.

I wouldn't be quick to pay for an item with such a value/premium.  Nice bar/coin, but you're marketing to maybe a handful of users on this forum.

With the premium you're charging (>$4K USD) I would expect this thing to be made of gold.   Wink

EDIT: I know it's 200+ grams, just stating that titanium is not a desirable metal for such a large premium.

well  so if we dont buy the titanium , why do you charge it at  5 bitcoin  more than the block value ??  hooo the redwood box maybe ?....  Roll Eyes

From our collection of the Bitcoin Blocks mined so far, we have an extra large one:

Block #: 418,402
Address: 16AEBbzXfBuZb6atJu5coDMxtqGR8ieCoK
Bitcoins: 26.03392740

https://blockchain.info/tx/0d36ca5eb506babc58650d42a42e28f1aef1cf5b6d043c3b4c88b933c464efbe

Since it's the largest block mined so far, we are not selling it in the store, but rather, will auction it off in this forum if there's enough interest. (Starting bid for the auction will be 1.00 BTC, with no reserve price.)

If there are at least 5+ parties interested, then I'll start the auction in a separate thread.

thanks,
Bobby

Don't get me wrong, I do like your coins and the fact that BTCC's name is behind a new mint.
I did get some of your previous coins and they look awesome.

Just that when I can't get your new item because it's too expensive... ouch it hurts!

I'd bid for the "superblock" though, hopefully it could sell for less then its weight in gold!  Smiley

$10 worth of titanium for only a 5 BTC markup! Where do I sign up?

Do you know where you can buy a whole block for less?

Any mining pool operator.

That sounds nice and all but I have never heard of or seen an offering like this.  These coins are mined directly to the coins address and are fresh unmoved coins and this is a whole block.  What mining pools sell this service?  I'd be very interested especially if they could mine to an address I provide!

This is a rare item and I think it will sell.  If the premium is too high he won't sell them and will lower the premium.  He is even offering to auction one here for the community to bid on with NO RESERVE.  I think you all sound like a bunch of whiners.

Here is my hopefully worthwhile criticism of the article I just read:

http://www.prweb.com/releases/2016/07/prweb13525983.htm
Quote
The counterfeit-proof hologram sticker is tamper-evident, and has a unique design with the BTCC logo and the words “LIMITED EDITION,” “BITCOIN BLOCKCHAIN BLOCK REWARD,” “NEWLY MINED,” and “N SERIES.” The sticker also contains the public address of the Block, set against a pattern of BTCC logos.

There is no such thing as "counterfeit-proof" anything in this world. With enough money and resources pretty much anything can be counterfeited, even Bitcoin (in a manner of speaking if you have enough hash power).

Perhaps that statement was a mis-speak.
