I am creating a thread as we need to get some momentum going on RX 480 BIOS mods.
So far we do know that there is a way to unlock RX 480 4gb cards and turn them into 8gb cards.
However, now we need solutions to undervolt and overclock GPU + increase fan speed.
So, anyone have any success on bios mods or Ubuntu 14.04 or 16.04?

Yep...running custom BIOS on ubuntu 16.04..29MH @ 120 watts.
Let me step in here. There is no way to pass signature check 'yet' .. So a "custom" bios <-- Not possible (yet) Reference: HereTrust me, i've tried.. several times, thought i'd cracked it but no.. it's not yet possible. The only thing that is possible is to modify the amd drivers to be able to go higher than 2250 mem. Which i have done and which i have proof of. Here: I would love to see some proof of that 29+ Mh.. Greetings

I assume you expanded the last strap to be able to run in a higher timing than 2000? 14.04? Greetings! Edit: just saw your post in the other thread. Guess i need to test on linux ;-), thx!

Yeah in linux you can run any type of bios, while in windows if you try to run those modified bios's it will just crash on startup.
jstefanop, how much in total from wall ?

I get 81 and 85 watts on gpu = 166 watts for 2 rx 480s and hash at 24.3 for each. but that gpu-z translates to about 250 at the wall well 300 at the wall and take off 50 for the pc. so if my 166 watts is 250 at the wall an 83 watt gpu-z = 125 watts at the wall for 24.4 he is 101 watt gpu-z add 42 watts he is just about 143 watts at the wall for 29.4 125/24.4 = 5.12 watts per mh me 142/29.4 - 4.86 watts per mh jstefanop keep in mind I am guesstimating his at the wall number. but i think he is doing just under 5 watts per mh while I am just over 5 watts per mh

I've created a custom bios for the rx 480 and successfully flashed it onto a ubuntu test machine. Will be testing it for the next day or so.
My goal will to lower temps and power draw ~20% or more.

Flashing BIOS over and over can be time consuming. I've successfully reduced power draw by 20-25 watts at the wall outlet. Stock Total System power draw was 205 watts/hr @ the wall with 1 - RX 480 card in. Total System power draw is now 180-185 watt/hr @ the wall Mining 22.5 to 23 mh/s on a 4gb Sapphire rx 480 in Ubuntu version 16.04 LTS. In Windows the card would probably run 24 to 25mh/s. I believe there is a bit more room to go. Gonna test a bit more then probably take a break as its nice outside

Ok I hit 155 watt at the wall @ 22.5 mh/s...more testing is necessary.

4x RX 480 - Using Wattman - 2x Gigabyte Reference Cooler Design - 2x Sapphire Reference Cooler Design - DCRI 32 -Core MV = Default -Power Limit = +2% -Clock Mhz = +2.5% -Memory Clock Mhz = 2000Mhz -Fan Speed = 82% ETH (Total Speed) 98 MHs SC (Total Speed) 1560 MHs Highest Temp observed, 75C Watts Measured at Wall, 745W Even with these settings for whatever reason my GPU's will not hit their max clocks Below is a screen capture of my performance and configs.

Ok so the lowest I got power draw to was ~110 watt per Video card at the wall but then it crashes after a while.
Anyone have better results and willing to share? Preferably stable.

For Ubuntu 16.04 LTS
The card pulls 112Watt at the wall..maybe even less.
at 900 mhz gpu, 800 mvolt 1750mhz ram, 1000 mvolt
I was able to do 1200mhz gpu, 850 mvolt 1750mhz ram, 1000mvolt
It seems that the card becomes very power inefficient once it passes around 1100mhz-1200mhz gpu core. I am going to test what I can undervolt the ram to and lower core gpu mhz as well.

Hi greaterninja, What tool are you using to alter the core and mem freq for the card?
