Russia has a population of 146,600,000 (estimates) so many things are going on. It's very diverse, Moscow is very different from say your average village. What information do you want to know specifically? politics? social life? tourism?

In my opinion,it depends where are you going to travel.I also dont know your purpose to get there,but
i assume you are going to travel to Moscow.
You need to remember that Moscow is one of the most expensive cities in the world,live there is not cheap.And as virtualx already said,life in Moscow is very different comparing it to the different cities or villages,also you need to remember that Russia is the biggest country in the world,but actually there are less people in US,so there are not so many people.

By this I mean a news/entertainment source which provide in English news and stuff about what is going in Russia, the good the bad the fun and sad. I am not interested in something framed in us vs them or what ever geopolitical spinning... Just about life, people to people exchange, sports, cultural trends what ever, I like to discover new things. I hope I am clearer in my question? Thank you again for your interest...

I recommend to check russian youtube channels. You can connect with regular Russian citizens on vk.com, facebook.com and even twitter.com. A lot of data about day to day life there.

For video: There are also some youtube vloggers like the "stop a bad driver" program, guys climbing/stunts on skyscraper and several others. A lot of videos are also shared on the social networks.

This site also has some topics on Russia in the off-topic section.

If you want real journalism you could easily find this on channels like vice that exploit every current conditions of whats going on in the world.

But I`ll just update you anyways.. right now the issue with russia is their russian ruble is falling because of the ukraine and nato situation.

This falls back on to the cold war situation.

I tried to planeta-RTR one of the big Russian tv company... Sadly there are no English subtitles but it was interesting... Big thunder storm in Moscow and they show some kind of meeting with Putin and his ministers (or at least it's what it looked like but it could be anyone and about anything I have no idea). There was one young guy standing in front of him... Not the type to splurge in the blood of the Syrian people... The others they were drowning in it.

But still totally apparatchiks and no spark or brightness... No like in China when you can see life.. In Russia there was to my opinion some kind of sadness and boringness... Where is the magic of Anastasia gone?!? Lost in the mass graves of syria or chechenia?
